WWE Over the Limit Results: What's Next for the Miz After His Tragic Loss?

Graham GSM MatthewsMay 23, 2011

In what turned out to be the most disappointing show of the year, John Cena predictably defeated The Miz to retain his WWE Championship in a brutal "I Quit" Match. Well, brutal for Cena that is.

The match basically consisted of Miz and his sidekick Alex Riley, who has able to aid his mentor due to there being no disqualifications, dismantling The Champ with a series of devastating maneuvers. You name it, they did it.

Despite the punishment, John Cena obviously refused to quit. After much time wasted on complete domination, Miz and Riley attempted to fool referee Mike Chioda by playing a tape recorder that played Cena exclaiming the words "I quit!."

In a finish much similar to their WWE Championship match on RAW a few weeks ago, the match was ultimately restarted, which resulted in Cena getting the better of the devious duo to force Miz to forcefully say the two unspeakable words.

Last year's "I Quit" match failed to live up to the hype in my opinion, and this year's didn't do much better. I had some doubts on Cena winning, but apparently I shouldn't have given that; I just wasted an hour of my time watching this boring main event that ended in the exact way I expected it to.

I was hoping for the creative team to live up to their name for once by providing us with a shocking turn of events, such as the return of "The Animal" Batista or Riley turning on Miz. Sadly, the handicap stipulation did not help matters, which only made things worse.

Christian vs. Randy Orton is what really counted on this show, so why not headline with that? I surely hope this is the end of the line for this feud, because this barbaric booking is pushing me to my limit.

But what can we expect to see from The Miz going forward?

With Alex Riley drafted to SmackDown via the 2011 WWE Draft last month, I see him making the official jump to Friday Nights to end their partnership. After the NXT Season 2 Rookie inadvertently cost Miz the title, I don't see the Awesome One forgiving him after what transpired.

Cena appears to be moving on to bigger things with fresh talent in the title picture, while I expect Truth and Mysteio to continue their feud as well. Where does this leave The Miz?

There are not many potential candidates for his next rivalry, with John Morrison being injured and Triple H working in the office. I sure as hell hope he won't get lost in the shuffle, or worse, disappear from television entirely.

If you have any thoughts on what you think lies in the future of the Miz, make sure to let your opinions be heard in the comments below. GSM out.
