
David Ortiz Is 5th Red Sox Slugger to Join 300 Home Run Club
David Ortiz joined a special group on Saturday, May 21 when he hit home run No. 300 in a Red Sox uniform. This feat further cements his place as one of the all-time great Red Sox hitters.
There have been many great hitters to wear a Boston uniform that have hit 300 homers in their careers, but there are only five to have hit 300 while playing for Boston. Let's take a look.
No. 4: Dwight Evans

Dwight Evans, an eight-time Gold Glove-winning right fielder, is next on the list with 379. Evans was drafted by Boston in 1969 and played for the Red Sox from 1971 to 1990. He finished his career with the Orioles in 1991.
No. 3: Jim Rice

Next up is Hall of Fame left fielder Jim Rice with 382. Rice, an eight-time All-Star and the 1978 AL MVP, played his his entire career in Boston from 1974 to 1989. He had 11 seasons with 20 or more home runs and led the league in homers three times.
Rice was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2009.
No. 2: Carl Yastrzemski

Next up at No. 2 on the list is left fielder Carl Yastrzemski with 452. Yaz spent his entire 23-year career with Boston. Yastrzemski, an 18-time All-Star with seven Gold Gloves and more than 3,000 hits, was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1989.
No. 1: Ted Williams

Who else but the Splendid Splinter could be at the top of this list? Teddy Ballgame is the all-time leader in Red Sox home runs.
Williams spent his entire career playing left field for Boston. He was the last player to hit over .400 for a single season, batting .406 in 1941. William also won two AL MVP awards and two Triple Crowns and earned 19 All-Star berths. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1966.
