Roy Jones Jr. vs. Denis Lebedev: Roy Demolished by Russian in Moscow

Former heavyweight titlist Roy Jones Jr. lost to Denis Lebedev by 10^th-round TKO earlier today at the Megasport Arena in Moscow, Russia.

With seconds remaining in the final round, Lebedev (22-1, 17 KOs), landed a fierce barrage of punches before flooring Jones (54-8, 40 KO) and finishing the spent legend.

"I'm so happy with this win, we put so much into this fight," Lebedev, 31, was quoted as saying on ESPN.com. "Jones was everything we expected: quick, strong, cheeky. ... But I pulled through."

The once incomparable Jones has now been decisively defeated in four of his last six bouts.

"It was a great shot, I can't take nothing away from him," said Jones, 42, who became the first former middleweight champ to win a heavyweight crown in more than a century when he defeated Metheun’s John Ruiz by a unanimous decision in March 2003. "He was a tough competitor."

Lebedev is ranked as the world’s preeminent cruiserweight.

Nevertheless, Jones, named "Fighter of the Decade" for the 1990s by the Boxing Writers Association of America, would have utterly dominated the adequate Ruskie in his heyday.

Sadly, "Junior" is now a sham and liability in the squared circle fighting strictly for monetary reasons. 

Jones, a pugilistic legend and one of the most physically gifted athletes in the annals of prizefighting, finally acknowledged he needs to reevaluate his career.

"I really don't know what I'm going to do now," Jones said. "I'm going to think about it."

There is nothing for Jones “to think about.”

Roy Jones Jr. immediately needs to hang up his gloves before he is boxing’s next tragic figure.
