Dunedin Jays Batters Strikeout 15 Times Against 4 Charlotte Stone Crab Pitchers
On Monday, the Charlotte Stone Crabs cruised to a 6-0 victory at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium, after scoring four runs in the third inning.
Every Jay batter on this night struck out at least once (except third baseman Kevin Ahrens).
Two batters struck out three times, including second baseman Ivan Contreras who fanned all three times he came to the plate.
Baseball scouts pay close attention to strikeouts to times at bat. A red flag goes up any time a player has more than 20 strikeouts for every 100 times he comes to the plate. If you reach the Major Leagues it becomes less a concern. If you are striking out more than 20 percent of the time in the minors however, it will effect your chances of being promoted.
The Blue Jays have six starters who strikeout at the red flag level.
The D-Jays were limited to just three singles on a night when they were shutout for only the third time this season.
Charlotte will be the visitors again Tuesday night. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
