Fantasy Football Week Seven Bruno Boys Waiver Wire

Michael WhooleyOct 19, 2008

We're now through seven weeks of football, which means a lot of body banging. That's resulted in the injuries piling up. Just this week alone, Reggie Bush tore the meniscus in his knee and is out anywhere from three to six weeks. Kansas City Chiefs' quarterback Brodie Croyle would be happy with just a three-to-six-week absence, but his knee injury will end his season. And then there's Steven Jackson, who torched the Dallas Cowboys for 160 rush yards and three scores, but scared his owners by leaving the game with an injury.

For now, if you own Jackson, remain calm, as it appears the injury is nothing more than a bruise, but we'll keep you posted on any updates. Yes, folks, fantasy options are going down left and right, which is why it's always important to pay attention to the waiver wire and add much-needed depth to your roster. So, let's take a look at this week's Bruno Boys Waiver Wire.

QUARTERBACKS

Jeff Garcia (Tampa Bay Buccaneers)

Chances are that when Garcia lost the starting to job to Brian Griese, he found his way back to your league's waiver wire. But an injury to Griese has the veteran quarterback once again assuming starting duties.

In two weeks as the Bucs' starter, Garcia has gone for 10 and 16 fantasy points in standard Bruno Boys fantasy leagues. The fact that he topped the 300-passing-yards barrier this past Sunday is even more reason to snag him if you're looking for quarterback help.

Gus Frerotte (Minnesota Vikings)

Frerotte is on a bye this coming week and threw four interceptions against the Chicago Bears in Week Seven, so why are we putting him on our waiver wire? It's simple, actually. Frerotte has gone for double-digit fantasy points in four of his five starts. It's possible he'll be dropped for his bye in leagues in which he is currently owned, too, so keep an eye out for him in all leagues before your fellow owners catch on to his fantasy allure.

RUNNING BACKS

Mewelde Moore (Pittsburgh Steelers)

This was the week starter Willie Parker was supposed to return, yet it was Moore who got all the carries in the team’s win over the Bengals, as Parker reaggravated his knee by stepping in a pot hole. In the game, Moore had 120 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries. He also had five receptions for 14 yards and a touchdown. That’s a lot of fantasy points.

Parker’s status, at this point, is still unknown, so you’ll need to keep your eye on the situation. However, if Parker cannot go, Moore is a serviceable backup in any league because, as we all know, the Steelers love to run the ball.
