Ryan Theriot went 2-for-2 with an RBI to raise his average to .295. Yadier Molina went 2-for-4 to raise his average to .296. Nick Punto went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Jake Westbrook gave up one run on four hits for the win.
Pittsburgh at Washington
Danny Espinosa went 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBI (22). Ronny Cedeno went 2-for-3 with a run. John Lannan gave up two runs in 6.1 innings but got a no-decision.
Toronto at Detroit
Yunel Escobar went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Edwin Encarnacion went 2-for-5 with a run. Aaron Hill went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Rajai Davis went 2-for-4. Kyle Drabek gave up one run on three hits in seven innings to improve to 3-2 with a 4.32 ERA. Max Scherzer gave up one unearned run in seven innings but got a no-decision. He lowered his ERA to 2.81.
Houston at Atlanta
Eric Hinske went 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI to raise his average to .356. Joe Mather went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Jason Heyward was out again. Matt Downs went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI. Tommy Hanson tossed a gem. Brett Myers gave up two runs with six strikeouts in six innings but got a no-decision.
Chicago Cubs at Cincinnati
Jonny Gomes went 1-for-4 with a home run (seven) and two RBI (19). Darwin Barney went 3-for-4 with an RBI to raise his average to .345. Marlon Byrd went 2-for-4 with a run to raise his average to .316. Carlos Pena went 2-for-4 with two runs, a home run and two RBI.
Texas at Chicago White Sox
Endy Chavez went 3-for-5 with two runs and a stolen base. A.J. Pierzynski went 2-for-3. Colby Lewis struck out seven in a five-hit shutout. He improved to 4-4 with a 3.81 ERA.
Baltimore at Boston
J.D. Drew went 2-for-4 with a run. Jed Lowrie went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI (18) to raise his average to .320. Jason Varitek went 2-for-5 with a run and two RBI. Chris Tillman threw five scoreless innings but got a no-decision.
Cleveland at Kansas City
The Tribe scored 19 runs, so pretty much everybody went off. Michael Brantley, both Cabreras and Matt LaPorta did most of the damage. Josh Tomlin gave up one run in six innings to improve to 5-1 with a 2.56 ERA.
San Francisco at Colorado
Dexter Fowler went 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI. Jonathan Herrera went 2-for-4 with a run to raise his average to .292. Jose Lopez went 2-for-3 with a run. Freddy Sanchez went 3-for-4. Nate Schierholtz went 1-for-2 with a home run and two RBI. Miguel Tejada went 2-for-4 with a run.
Florida at New York Mets
Omar Infante went 3-for-4. Justin Turner went 2-for-5. Mike Pelfrey gave up one run in seven innings but got a no-decision. Mike Dunn struck out five in two scoreless innings.
San Diego at Arizona
Jason Bartlett went 2-for-5 with two runs and two RBI (15). Cameron Maybin went 1-for-3 with two RBI (15). Ryan Ludwick went 2-for-3 with a home run (seven) and three RBI (26). Henry Blanco went 2-for-3 with a pair of home runs.
Minnesota at Seattle
Adam Kennedy went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI. Michael Pineda did his thing as the Twins’ bats remained quiet.
Milwaukee at Los Angeles Dodgers
Shaun Marcum gave up one run on five hits in seven innings to improve to 5-1 with a 2.54 ERA. Jon Garland gave up two runs in six innings but took the loss.
Los Angeles Angels at Oakland
Coco Crisp went 2-for-4 with a run and a stolen base (13). Daric Barton went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Alberto Callaspo went 2-for-5 with an RBI (20) to raise his average to .315. Bobby Wilson went 2-for-4.
