Predictions and Picks For Week 7

Vinny MadioOct 18, 2008

Writing for my favorite team in the NFL, the Buffalo Bills, is a real hard thing to do because even thought I live in New York and they are the only real team in New York, I never get them on TV unless they play the Jets or have a prime time game.  They are off to a great start and would love to write about them, but all my information about the team are from other writers and without seeing for my own eyes, I couldn't write about them.

So I figured, the easiest way to start writing NFL articles is to do what I do every weekend, make my picks but explain them also.  I love doing weekly picks, survivor pools and not to mention the four fantasy teams I got.  So even though I don' watch my team every week, I do follow every other game, because usually got something to watch for.

For now, will just be telling you my outlooks and picks for all the week 7 games, and hopefully I will look like a genius in the process.  First up, lets star with those Bills.

Buffalo is home against the Chargers and favored by only one.  Basically the game is a pick-em and is up in the air.  Buffalo comes off their bye week and hopes Trent Edwards can recover from his concussion.  While the Chargers come off a blow out victory on Sunday night against the Brady-less Patriots.  Even though Buffalo is my team, I think the Chargers are starting to click and will take this game and take the step back to one of the top teams in the AFC.

The next match-up is the Titans at the Chiefs.  The Chiefs have been one of the worst teams in the league this year and the Titans have been one of the best.  Titans are favored by nine and even though seems like a lot, the Chiefs will be without star player and running back, Larry Johnson.  I would defiantly take the Titans by nine in this game.

Up next is the tough hitting Steelers on the road against the winless Bengals.  The Steelers are favored by 9.5 and should win this game.  Thing is the Bengals have been fighting and clawing and with the Steelers a little banged up themselves, I am taking the underdog.  The Bengals will be 0-7 after this week, but will cover for all those betting fans.

Our Next match-up is one of the very surprising teams.  The Ravens and Joe Flacco fly down to Miami, to take on the 2-3 Dolphins.  They both have under 500 records, but with the Ravens having their rookie start, he has had 2 big wins.  And Miami with Pennington, well, they just have fought in basically every game this year.  Miami is favored by three and I think they'll cover here.  Flacco, though been impressive, has had some bad games as of late and should continue that trend on the road here. Miami will defiantly win by more than three points.

In St. Louis, the Rams are coming off their first win of the season, while the Cowboys are coming off to a tough loss to Arizona.  Cowboys come in with many distractions and injuries.  Roy Williams will be making his debut, but so is Brad Johnson.  Cowboys are favored by a touchdown here, but I don't see that happening.  Cowboys will win, but will not cover the spread, so going with the underdog Rams here.

In Chicago, we got the Vikings and Peterson visiting DA Bears.  The Bears are favored by three here and I like their chances.  I think Chicagos defense will stop Peterson and Kyle Orton will do enough to cove the spread here.

John Fox's Panthers play host to Drew Brees and the high scoring Saints this week which should be a great match-up.  The Panthers are 4-2 and are favored by three over the 3-3 Saints.  I think New Orleans takes a stand this week, not only covers, but wins out right and goes to 4-3 on the season.

The Giants are coming off an embarrassing loss to the Browns on Monday night, as they play host to the San Fransisco 49ers.  San Fransisco is the under dog here by 11 points as their defense has giving up about 28 points a game.  With the Giants being embarrassed and mad about what happened against the Browns, I see the Giants coming out full force and destroying the 49ers.  I take the Giants by 11 here.

The Lions play their first game since trading Roy Williams, as they are on the road in Houston to play the Texans.  The Texans are coming off a huge win against the Dolphins last week and are favored by 9 points.  I think the Lions are just as bad as advertised, but I do not see the Texans winning by 9 points.  The Lions will still be win less, but will cover the points.

Brett Favre leads the Jets into Oakland to face the Raiders.  The Jets are favored by three in this game and will cover.  The Jets see that they have a chance to be the top team in the AFC East and will come out playing like it.  Expect to see a big time victory on Sunday.

The Redskins are home this week after a loss to the Rams last week where basically they showed no heart.  The Browns showed plenty of heart against the Giants on Monday and not only did Anderson save his job for now, he also saved the Browns season for now.  The Redskins are favored by 7 points here and I do not see them covering it.  This game will come down to a field goal and I see the Browns being on the winning side.

In Green Bay, the not so impressive Packers take on the now healthy Peyton Manning and Colts.  The Colts are favored by 1 which basically makes this game another pick-em.  The Colts looked really good last week against a bad team, but I see them coming out and knocking Green Bay off at the frozen tundra.  Got to like Manning and Colts here.

For the Sunday night game, its Seattle at Tampa Bay.  Tampa bay is favored by 10.5 and will be going against a team without their starting quarterback.  I like Tampa in the blowout here.

As for Monday night and the last game of the week, it is the Denver Broncos at the New England Patriots.  The Patriots are favored by 3 here, but I see the Broncos coming into this game and beating the Patriots by a touchdown.  Look for Cutler to have a field day in this game.
