NSAC Finds Manny Pacquiao Negative of Illegal Drugs Use

Leo ReyesMay 16, 2011

The Nevada Sports Athletic Commission (NSAC) has released the result of tests conducted by the Nevada sports regulating body on Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao following his fight with American Shane Mosley last May 7 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

NSAC Executive Director Keith Kaiser said the test conducted on urine samples taken from Pacquiao and Mosley showed a negative result.

"Kizer told the Inquirer that one urine sample was taken before and another after their bout for the WBO welterweight title on May 7 in Las Vegas which Pacquiao easily won via unanimous decision." Inquirer.net reports.

"Kizer said the Filipino superstar has always been tested before and after his fights in Las Vegas, and has never failed a drug test," the report added.

Earlier, Mosley and Mayweather have posted on Twitter news they picked-up from an Internet article about claims made by a former sparring partner that he injected Pacquiao with steroids.

The controversial article was deleted from the website that posted the news item after Pacquiao reportedly requested the FBI to trace the source.

Pacquiao denied the allegations, saying he never had a Filipino sparring partner since he fought Oscar de la Hoya in 2008.

Dave Rodela, a long-time sparring partner of Manny Pacquiao, has offered some thoughts on the new Twitter posts by Mayweather and Mosley in an exclusive video from ESNews.

Meanwhile, the final result of the pay-per-view buys on the May 7 Pacquiao-Mosley fight is expected to be released this week and there are indications the fight will generate 1.3 to 1.4 million buys.

Pacquiao has returned to the Philippines to resume his duties as congressman representing Sarangani province in southern Philippines.
