NFL 2011: Facebook Status Updates for All 32 NFL Teams
Social media has taken over both the sports world and all of our personal lives. It all started with MySpace, but since then Facebook has become the main form of social media used across the globe.
Professional sports teams can now keep their fans informed via Facebook statuses and Twitter updates.
As fans we enjoy being kept up to date on all sports news related to our favorite teams. Luckily, Bleacher Report has it covered, as these are the current Facebook statuses of all 32 NFL teams.
Arizona Cardinals
1 of 32
Status:
The Arizona Cardinals currently have a link up to their blog discussing the arrival of Kurt Warner in Arizona.
I'm quite confident Cardinals fans would prefer if this post were titled "Warner's return" in the hope that Warner will be returning to the Cardinals next season.
Atlanta Falcons

Status:
"The trade up to get Julio Jones in the first round was certainly the biggest of the 2011 NFL Draft, but where does the trade rank all-time among the biggest in Draft history? Vote in our poll by clicking the link."
There is no question that the trade for Julio Jones doesn't compare to some of the biggest trades in NFL history, especially since we are not sure exactly how this trade will end up in the long run.
On the bright side, at least the Falcons are aware that giving up so many picks for a wide receiver is a bit of a stretch.
Baltimore Ravens
3 of 32
Status:
"Tyrod Taylor vs. Troy Smith | Head Coach John Harbaugh didn't see a comparison and the tape shows differences. http://bmob.us/pi"
The Baltimore Ravens appear to be pretty high on Tyrod Taylor, and I'm not too sure why. He was an average college QB that doesn't really have the accuracy necessary to be successful in the NFL.
However, it looks like Harbaugh seems to like Taylor a bit, but there is no way he sees the field over Joe Flacco.
Buffalo Bills

Status:
"Official Buffalo Bills Jersey Event: 2010 Home and Away jerseys just $20 at Ralph Wilson Stadium May 21st 10am - 4pm and May 22nd 10am - 3 pm. Limited quantities. Stop down and be part of the action!"
Wow. $20 jerseys? The economy is pretty bad and all, but things must be awful in Buffalo. You know your team is struggling when they are literally giving away jerseys.
If only we could convince every team in the NFL to give away jerseys.
Carolina Panthers
5 of 32
Status:
"Just came across a Team Photo of the 2003 Super Bowl XXXVIII Team and it brings back some great memories.
"Tell us about your favorite Panthers memory!"
The 2003 Super Bowl is likely the only good memory that Panthers fans have at this point. Good news, though: Cam Newton is here to save the day. Oh wait...never mind.
Chicago Bears
6 of 32
Status:
"The Bears have made their final selection of the 2011 NFL Draft. GM Jerry Angelo is at the podium wrapping up the Bears draft"
The Chicago Bears appear to be slacking. They haven't made a status update since the end of the NFL Draft, but they did post a poll asking fans how they felt about the draft.
Either way, whoever is in control of the Bears' social media needs to step his or her game up.
Cincinnati Bengals
7 of 32
Status:
"Welcome back! There have been some positive moves made. Should be exciting season."
The Bengals think they're in for an exciting season apparently. That is true, but I don't think it is going to be a winning season for Cincinnati.
The Bengals did make some positive moves by bringing in Andy Dalton and A.J. Green, but Bengals fans shouldn't get too carried away.
Cleveland Browns
8 of 32
Status:
"Getting Healthy with the Browns"
I think the Browns are just trying to get some hits on their website with this one. Either that or they think their players are using the lockout to get healthy.
Either way, it is quite the boring Facebook status.
Dallas Cowboys
9 of 32
Status:
"There's still some unfinished business in this year's draft for the Cowboys. Is the process completed? Check out these thoughts before you answer: http://tinyurl.com/6383xb7"
Apparently the Dallas Cowboys think there are some undrafted players that can come in and immediately affect their draft grade. Not too sure what secret weapons they have up their sleeve, but I hope they aren't breaking the rules and speaking to undrafted players.
Denver Broncos
10 of 32
Status:
"Now that the draft is through, check out our page with all of DenverBroncos.com's coverage from the weekend: http://dbron.co/2011draft"
The Denver Broncos appear to be slacking on updating their Facebook status as well. Either way, Broncos fans are probably pretty happy with their draft, as their defense should be much better next year.
Now John Elway needs to hire someone who will update their social media on a regular basis.
Detroit Lions
11 of 32
Status:
""Lions' fans, thank you for your comments on this year's draft class! We appreciate your input! Lions' Fans Share Their Thoughts on Detroit's 2011 NFL Draft Class
"
www.detroitlions.com"
The Detroit Lions are probably loving the reaction they are getting from their fans on this year's draft. They stole Mikel Leshoure at the end of the second round and Nick Fairley at No. 13 overall.
The Lions have been the crapshoot of the NFL the past few years, so it is good to see them on the road to recovery, as their fans are nothing but class.
Green Bay Packers
12 of 32
Status
"It's Matt Flynn and Josh Sitton vs. Desmond Bishop and Antonio Freeman in the tour bus right now. We've got more behind the scenes coverage of the 2011 Packers Tailgate Tour on http://www.packers.com/"
The Green Bay Packers won the Super Bowl, so they are allowed to go out and have as much fun as they want this offseason.
If I had to pick, though, I'd rather watch someone other than Matt Flynn and Josh Sitton, but that's just me.
Houston Texans
13 of 32
Status
"Friday Mailbag Time: Ask your Texans question here, and Friday on Texans TV, Drew Dougherty and Nick Scurfield will answer it."
I have no idea who Drew Dougherty is, but if I could pick I'd rather have Drew Doughty of the Los Angeles Kings answering my questions on the Texans. It might make for some amusing responses.
Either way, good to see the Texans interacting with their fanbase.
Indianapolis Colts
14 of 32
Status"
"We've just created a Colts VIP Fan Club Page. Go to the page and like the page to get information about Colts VIP, Deep Discount Offers through BigCityClubs and more!"
I didn't take the time to go through the process to learn about the Colts VIP program, but it sounds like a pretty good deal for any Colts fan.
If you're a Colts fan and looking for some discounts, be sure to check out their Facebook page.
Jacksonville Jaguars
15 of 32
Status:
"Attention, ladies! Be sure to sign up for the first NFL 101 Workshop for Women of 2011, presented by PRI Productions at Latitude 30."
Well, it looks like the Jaguars are trying to cross gender lines and bring in some more female fans. I think they need to have an NFL 101 for men too though—you know, for the guy at the bar that calls an extra point a field goal.
Kansas City Chiefs
16 of 32
Status:
"Over the last three drafts, the Chiefs have quietly attempted to build a legion of hybrid defensive backs. The approach is a branch off the team’s broader strategy of finding versatile players to build a flexible 54-man roster. What do YOU think?
"Finding Hybrid Defensive Backs www.kcchiefs.com"
The Kansas City Chiefs are getting a bit detailed with their Facebook statuses, compared to other NFL teams.
The Chiefs do have a quality core of defensive backs right now, but if they are doing it quietly, they shouldn't be announcing it to Facebook!
Miami Dolphins
17 of 32
Status:
"Who is Frank Kearse? Besides being the Dolphins 7th round pick, you probably don't know too much about him. To learn more about the man they call 'Big Spoon', check out the scouting report from his college coach, Anthony Jones, as he talks with The Finsiders: http://thefinsiders.com/podcasts/2011/anthony-jones-alabama-am-head-coach/"
This post is full of both bad nicknames and bad names in general. While "The Finsiders" is creative, it is pretty lame for a professional football team.
On the other hand, "Big Spoon" is one of the worst nicknames for a professional athlete. I, for one, would not be a happy camper if that was my nickname.
Minnesota Vikings
18 of 32
Status:
"Make this year's family reunion the best ever. Say goodbye to your single years with a killer bachelor party. Take your work event from boring off-site to a stadium full of passionate fans. Show your horns and buy group tickets in 2011."
Going to a football game for a bachelor party? Come on. Real fans don't need a reason to go to a football game. They should have bigger plans for a bachelor party!
Oh well—I guess it is going to be tough to sell tickets without Brett Favre leading your team, or it could have to do with the bright idea the Vikings had to draft Christian Ponder?
New England Patriots
19 of 32
Status:
"Can you tell the McCourty twins apart?? Check out their appearance on ESPN's 'First Take' today and see..."
The Patriots could have done so much more with this status! I'm thinking they put up a poll with a photo of each to see who can actually tell the two apart.
Oh well—at least they linked us to a pretty interesting video.
New Orleans Saints
20 of 32
The New Orleans Saints have decided to never update their Facebook status. Don't believe me? Click here.
Instead of posting their Facebook status, here is their most recent Twitter update,
"What do you think of this car? RT @uyeniiee This is one true @Official_Saints fan! http://t.co/drFqu0q"
Apparently the Saints care more about cars than they do their team right now. They also really, really need to fire their social media guy and get someone that will update a Facebook page. It's 2011, not 1999.
New York Giants
21 of 32
Status:
"Thanks to EVERYONE who entered our ticket contest this past week. Next Tuesday we will announce the 20 FINALISTS! On Wednesday, fans can then vote for the 'BEST GIANTS FAN STORY' right here on Facebook. The ten finalists who get the most votes will have their photo appear on our game tickets this year and will also get two tickets to the game they appear on where they will also be honored!"
I read about this story last week, and even though I am a Washington Redskins fan, I support this 100 percent.
This is one of the better ideas an NFL team has come up with in recent years, and with the NFL in the midst of a lockout, it is the perfect time to show that this game is as much about the fans as it is the players.
New York Jets
22 of 32
Status:
"Girls performed their solo routines for the judges at the Flight Crew finals. For more action from the Jets cheerleader audition finals watch 'Making the Squad,' coming soon on newyorkjets.com."
I am curious to know exactly who the judges are for the Jets' "Flight Crew." The best-case scenario is that Rex Ryan and/or his wife are the judges.
Obviously the only thing a girl needs to do to become a member of the "Flight Crew" would be to rub her feet on Ryan.
Okay, that joke's a bit old, but I'm sure Wes Welker will enjoy it.
Oakland Raiders
23 of 32
Status:
"Raider Nation On Location at the Bay to Breakers. http://www.raiders.com/news/article-1/Raider-Nation-On-Location-at-the-Bay-to-Breakers/a62b52d0-3982-492d-84d2-046742ad2a73"
Good to see the Oakland Raiders out there getting involved in local area activities. The Bay to Breakers race is in its 100th year, and the Raiders will be out there giving away prizes and tickets, so if there are any Raiders fans attending, be sure to put your name in for some prizes.
Philadelphia Eagles
24 of 32
Status:
"Another Eagle makes the NFL's 2011 Top 100. Watch his competitors explain what makes #10 so dangerous..."
The Philadelphia Eagles are promoting their star receiver, DeSean Jackson, in their latest Facebook post. Jackson has been tearing up the league since he arrived in Philadelphia, so he will likely continue climbing this list.
Pittsburgh Steelers
25 of 32
Status:
"Hines Ward is safe again on Dancing With the Stars."
Okay, so I might have skipped over their most recent status that is previewing events going on around Heinz Field in the upcoming months, but this one was too good to pass up.
Watching Hines Ward on Dancing with the Stars makes me wonder how he is such a dirty player on the field and such a nice guy off the field. I guess that is one of those things we will never figure out.
San Diego Chargers
26 of 32
Status:
"San Diego has named Regis Eller to scout the Northeast."
Not only do I not care who the Chargers have scouting the Northeast, but I doubt there are many Chargers fans who know or care who Regis Eller is.
The only people excited about this status are Eller and his family and friends. It's a pretty cool status for Eller, but a boring one for fans.
San Francisco 49ers
27 of 32
Status:
"49ers Promote Jeff Ferguson"
Apparently California teams really don't care about posting entertaining statuses for fans. First the Chargers tell us who their new scout is, and now the 49ers tell us they are promoting Ferguson.
The worst part about this status is they don't tell us what Ferguson was promoted to. After a bit of searching it appears that the NFL Network posted a story on this telling us that Ferguson was promoted from head athletic trainer to Director of Football Operations and Sports Medicine.
Seattle Seahawks
28 of 32
Status:
"Whitehurst to Durham a possible future connection for the Hawks? Well, the future is past because the two have already connected."
The fact that this duo is being talked about as the future for the Seahawks is pretty sad, especially when you consider that Seattle overdrafted Kris Durham in the fourth round (he wasn't even invited to the combine) and gave up way too much in a trade for Charlie Whitehurst.
Honestly, this status just makes me feel bad for Seahawks fans.
St. Louis Rams
29 of 32
Status:
Apparently the St. Louis Rams have done a good job keeping fans informed of upcoming events and went out to six local Buffalo Wild Wings to watch the NFL draft with fans and get immediate fan reaction.
However, I'm not exactly sure where the Rams are going with this status, but if you're a Rams fan, let them know what you want to see covered, I guess.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
30 of 32
Status:
"Vote for the Buccaneers 2010 Season Kickoff Party as Tampa Bay's Professional Sports Event of the Year. Need your memory refreshed on why it was so awesome? We'll break it down for you in 3 ways: cheerleaders, live music and brew."
You have to love the honesty from the Bucs Facebook page. They know the way to a man's heart with beer and women.
I guess if you break it down with cheerleaders, music and brew, it might have a chance at being the event of the year.
Tennessee Titans
31 of 32
Status:
"The date and time of the Titans' final preseason game have been determined. The Titans will play at New Orleans on Thursday, September 1 at 7 pm CT to wrap up the preseason. Click the link for a printable 2011 Titans schedule"
Does anyone really care about a preseason schedule right now? Personally, I'm more concerned that I might not be able to watch any sort of NFL football next season, which is quite depressing.
On the bright side, if football happens, at least we get a Thursday night preseason game.
Washington Redskins
32 of 32
Status:
"Sixth-round pick Evan Royster shows his love for Redskins Nation on Twitter http://redsk.in/madoAg
"
Evan Royster was the all-time leading rusher in Penn State University history and now has his sights set on making an NFL roster and becoming the next late-round draft pick to blossom in Mike Shanahan's system.
The interesting thing to note on Royster is that he is originally from Texas and was a Dallas Cowboys fan but will now be listening to "Hail to the Redskins" on Sundays.
