NFL Network reported that Jim Harbaugh hand delivered flowers to Alex Smith's wife.

Alex Smith just had a new baby boy and Harbaugh was granted permission by the NFL to interact with Smith, as it was purely a social meeting.

So what does this mean? Does it mean Harbaugh is trying to woo Smith to remain in San Francisco? Is there some hidden motive behind the gesture?

The answer is no. Harbaugh seems like he is trying to establish rapport amongst his players. The 49ers were a tight knit group in the 1980's when Eddie DeBartolo was in charge.

Harbaugh is simply doing something nice for a player on his roster. Building trust and a relationship with his team is going to be crucial for Harbaugh going forward. He pretty much cleared house as far as the coaching staff went.
