Mack Goes Crazy vs Winnipeg (DO NOT USE)

Daily Buzz

Nate SantoianniOct 16, 2008

It took all of a 2 games and 2 goals for Nikita Filatov to get the call from Columbus.  Filatov gets his chance as Jared Boll is placed on IR to deal with a neck/head injury.  Go get ‘em kid.

Not only does Syracuse lose Filatov, but it seems that Derek MacKenzie will be out of the line-up for at least a month with an ankle injury.  MacKenzie you’ll remember was one of those players who worked exceptionally hard in Columbus to try and make the opening night roster.  Looks like the Cuse is going to have to rely on the likes of Tommy! Sestito and Maxim Mayorov for goal production.

Around the league:

The most highly touted free agent (non-NHL) of the summer Fabian Brunnstrom debut in Dallas last night.  The result?  Hat Trick.  I thought after a couple healthy scratches that Dallas management wasn’t all too sure about the 23 yr old Swede.  Looks like they may have underestimated him.  Granted, a strong player playing along side Brad Richards is not exactly a recipe for disaster.  If you’re interested, take a look back at my Impact Rookie section to see a scouting report on him.
