Canucks Buzz: Who Do You Want to See: Sharks or Red Wings?

Joseph TrentonMay 12, 2011

The Canucks moved on to the third round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs on Monday. They have been off for two days, resting up for their next combatants—either the San Jose Sharks or the Detroit Red Wings.

The players on the Canucks have come out to say they do not have any preference to who they face next, but that could merely be a PR move.

The Sharks have major offensive weapons and big forwards in their lineup that can crash and bang. The team boasts the defending Stanley Cup-winning goaltender Antti Niemi, and it has never won Lord Stanley's mug.

The Detroit Red Wings have been there and done that, and they have a lot of players with multiple Stanley Cup rings on their fingers. Led by captain Nicklas Lidstrom, the team knows what it takes to go deep in the playoffs, and is able to step up its game at the most crucial situations during the game.

As a fan, who do you rather face?

In the Sharks-Red Wings series, the veteran group from Detroit has clawed back from an 0-3 series deficit to bring the team back in San Jose for a Game 7—much like what the Chicago Blackhawks accomplished through six games this season.

The puck drops at 6 p.m. local time.

The Western Conference Finals begin on Sunday, 5 p.m. local time in Vancouver.

Thanks for following the Vancouver Canucks.
