Brett Favre Calls Tony Romo
Tony Romo: Hello?
Brett Favre: Tony?
TR: Yes.
BF: This is Brett Favre; you know; your childhood hero. How’s it hangin?
TR: Well Brett, things aren’t so swell. I really hurt my pinky. It totally impacts the way I throw a spiral, and now I can’t even lift tires on the side of the road to help fellow Texans.
BF: That’s a tough break young gun. I call you young gun by the way because you have frequently stated on record that I am your hero. I hope I can call you young gun.
TR: You can call me young gun.
BF: Well young gun, here’s the scoop. If you grew up watching me, you should know that I have something in a situation that you lack.
TR: What’s that Brett?
BF: Balls, Tony…I have balls. You see, Tony, I’ve been nicked up my entire career. But by always playing, I kept my team's confidence level high.
TR: But weren’t you addicted to painkillers and down on yourself throughout that entire span?
BF: Tony, you and I both know that’s not what’s important. The important thing is that I was out there playing and helping my team win. Like that time when I broke my hand, but played through the whole thing.
TR: But didn’t you fumble the ball like every other play and cost a bunch of games for your team during that stretch?
BF: Tony, you and I both know that’s not what’s important. What’s important is that I was a constant leader to my team and an influential figure to others.
TR: But didn’t you create a scene by retiring and then trying to come back to Green Bay which compromised your position as a leader?
BF: Tony, you and I both know that’s not what’s important.
TR: Well what is important Brett?
BF: Young gun, it is important that you play right now. You must be a leader. You must play.
TR: You know what Brett…You’re right. I should play no matter what. Even if I throw just as many interceptions as I do touchdowns, it will be okay because my team will see me as a gridiron leader and one tough S.O.B. Who cares if I lose a few games because I can’t grip a ball? I’m a leader damn it and I deserve better.
BF: That’s the right way to think my boy. One last thing…
TR: No Brett. She is not ready for the outside world.
BOTTOM LINE: Tony Romo is Brett Favre’s biggest fan. And whether you like it or not, he is going to play like it.
