NY Islanders: D-Day Countdown Starts May 11th
According to Chris Botta of Islanderspointblank.com, Nassau Controller Ed Mangano, Town of Hempstead Supervisor Kate Murray, and Islanders owner Charles Wang will announce their plans for a sports/entertainment center on the current site of Nassau Coliseum.
This will be done on May 11th. Tomorrow.
They will tell us all how wonderful this would be, how many jobs it will create both in construction and afterwards, and casually mention that it will cost the taxpayers of Nassau County approximately $400 million dollars.

A vote will be held to determine whether Long Island keeps their only professional sports team on August 1st.
It will be up to the people of Nassau County whether or not the Islanders remain.
Kate Murray will no longer be the scapegoat.
Charles Wang will no longer be the one dreaming of grandiose and over-the-top "Lighthouse Projects".
Ed Mangano will have done his part.
The problem, as usual, will be those Long Islanders who suffer from a severe case of NIMBYism.
Not In My Backyard...ism.
These are those who want things done, improvements to be made, new stores and facilities to open up. But in our backyards, not theirs.
Realistically, aside from the cost, there is no reason for the vote not to pass.
Even in these difficult economic times, one would hope that the vote passes.
For if it doesn't, we can all but remove the "New York" from the Islanders.
