Power Ranking the Top 10 Training Camps in MMA Today

The UFC is not a team sport.

The UFC is about going in there and trying to rip off your opponent's head, leg, arm or anything else.

Of course, fighters have to train and get better so they're able to do that, right?

Who better to train with than other people who share the same goal?

Training camps, or teams, have been around since early in MMA, and there are some teams out there that are just better than others.

Here is an unofficial ranking of the top 10 training camps in mixed martial arts today.

10. Wolfslair MMA Academy

Wolfslair MMA Academy is over in Widnes in the UK and has recently become a prominent training camp for many fighters out there.

Wolfslair was founded in 2004 by Anthony McGann and Lee Gwynn.

9. Red Devil Sport

Red Devil Sport Club is based in St. Petersburg, Russia and has strong ties with the organization M-1.

Red Devil (also known as Imperial) was founded by Vadim Finkelstein in 1997.

8. American Top Team

American Top Team is based out of Coconut Creek, Florida and has many top competitors in MMA.

American Top Team was founded in 2001 by Marcus Silveira.

7. Xtreme Couture

Xtreme Couture has three locations: one in Las Vegas, Nevada, one in Wellington, Florida and one in Toronto, Ontario.

Xtreme Couture was founded in 2006 by none other than Randy Couture.

6. Team Quest

Team Quest has several facilities located throughout Washington and California, with the primary training facility located in Portland, Oregon.

Team Quest was founded in 1999 by Matt Lindland and Dan Henderson.

Team Quest is well known for having a strong Greco-Roman wrestling base.

5. Alliance MMA

Alliance MMA is one of the fastest-rising gyms in the sport and is based in Chula Vista, California.

Alliance was founded in 2007 by Brandon Vera and has grown rapidly since that time.

4. Cesar Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Academy

Cesar Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, home to "The Scrap Pack," is a gym run by Cesar Gracie that is based in Pleasant Hill, California with another location in Antioch, California.

The camp was founded by none other than Cesar Gracie himself, and he has produced some of the best fighters in MMA today.

3. American Kickboxing Academy

American Kickboxing Academy, also known as AKA, is a gym based in San Jose, California.

AKA was founded in the mid 1980s by Javier Mendez, who also now works with Bob Cook and Dave Camarillo.

AKA is well known amongst fight fans for its teammates' reluctance to fight each other.

2. Team Black House

Team Black House is based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and has other locations in Los Angeles and San Diego, California.

Black House was founded in 2006 by Ed Soares, Carlos Barreto, Jorge Guimaraes and Rogerio Camoes.

Black House is known as one of the best gyms in MMA today, and a case could have been made for the No. 1 spot.

Is there any real surprise at the No. 1 position?

Jackson's MMA was founded in 1992 by Greg Jackson, Mike Winkeljohn, Chris Luttrell and Chad LeMoine.

The camp is based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and it has some of the best fighters in MMA today.
