The Players Championship: Is There a Jinx Involved?
Tim Clark won the Players Championship in 2010 and his elbow is killing him.
Henrik Stenson won the Players Championship in 2009 and he's having a tough time breaking 80 these days.
Sergio Garcia was the 2008 winner and he's spent who knows how long in golf purgatory.
Phil Mickelson won in 2007 and Philly Mick is still Philly Mick and outside the Masters, he hasn't done what he should be doing, you'd think. Physically, he's come down with psoratic arthritis.
Stephen Ames won in 2006 and that should be enough in and of itself. Stephen Who?
What all this adds up to, and the PGA Tour would poo-poo this notion is that there seems to be a jinx these days associated with this championship.
Just look at that list and you tell us. What great things have the majority of these recent winner's accomplished? And what about the ailments for Clark and Lefty?
Which begs the question once again:
Is the Players Championship jinxed?
Well, one guy who won't be taking any chances is Lee Westwood, the world's No. 1 player.
He's not there and who's gonna blame him.
Curse of the Player's Championship?
Could be another sequel for Pirates of the Carribean.
