Wladimir Klitschko vs. David Haye: Biggest Heavyweight Title Fight in Ages

The upcoming Heavyweight title fight between Wladimir Klitscho and David Haye is the most anticipated Heavyweight title fight since possibly, Vitali Klitscho and Lennox Lewis met eight years ago in Los Angeles.

This fight is intriguing for a number of reasons.  David Haye is relatively unknown outside of his native England.  He is also not a natural Heavyweight, having previously campaigned at Cruiserweight, where he was the unified, recognized World Champion.

Wladimir Klitschko, along with his brother Vitali and Haye are the reigning Heavyweight champions.  If Haye wins, he could put himself in line to fight Vitali to determine who the true Heavyweight Champion of the World is.

While the best challenge to face Wladimir in a very long time, Haye is not exactly a proven commodity, he is simple the best of a very weak crop of heavyweights trying to replace the Klitschko brothers at the top of the heavyweight division.  Haye also generates a lot of fan interest because his trash talking is good enough to make Muhammad Ali proud. 

The biggest question about Haye than remains is whether he is big and durable enough to take the punches of the larger man.  His prior heavyweight bouts did little to answer that question.

David Haye represents the most anticipated challenge that Wladimir will face.  A victory over Haye will greatly improve his reputation. 

Klitschko at age 35, is at an age when many fighters start to show the effects of aging.  However, due to a lack of many brutal fights and an excellent training regimen, this does not seem to be the case here.  Even if Klitschko was on the decline, his recent opposition has been so poor, nobody would know it.

Possible Fight Scenarios

It seems that David haye will do everything possible to force Klitschko to engage in a slugfest.  Wladimir himself has a suspect chin and normally fights a very cautious style with little of no brawling involved.  If Haye is successful in luring Klitschko into this type of fight, nobody can be sure who will actually benefit.  Because Klitschko chooses not to fight that way does not mean he is unable to do well, especially against the naturally smaller Haye. 

The more realistic scenario is one in which Klitschko tries to keep Haye at bay with his jab, not allowing him to dictate the pace or style of fight.  This would cause the fight to look like recent Klitschko fights and would not be fan friendly.

Outcome

There is not another heavyweight out there at the moment that can bring any level of excitement to a Heavyweight fight other than the brothers squaring off, which is not possible.  So, it may be in the best interest of boxing for an upset to occur, but I really do not envision that.

Haye will do his best to get Wladimir into a wreckless fight, with little or no avail.  In the end,  Haye will be overly aggressive and get caught with a punch that ends the fight somewhere around the 10^th round.  The size difference will be the main factor in this outcome.
