TNA's X-Division: Xposed

Daris BrownOct 16, 2008

Six years ago "wrestling was reinvented." Six years ago wrestling was injected with a fresh dose of cool and amazing. Six years ago the X-Division was born and it revolutionized the way we looked at the sports entertainment business.

If you sat down and watched a match up between the sports top X-division stars, you would quickly see just why it is that this organization branded itself Total Non-stop Action. Because after all, it's not about weight limits...it's about no limits.

The X-Division boasts some of wrestling's finest athletes who are showcased in the sports most entertaining matches. These warriors have taken chain wrestling too a whole new level. A sweet combination of drop kicks, clotheslines, aerial attacks and, yes, hammerlocks all have taken their part in pumping our adrenaline and pushing us to the edge of our seats.

Take the exciting creation, Ultimate X. Where many are complaining about the excessive use of gimmicks, no one has anything to say about the company's second revolution, Ultimate X. This is no ordinary, hang your belt up and climb and get it kind of match. There are no ladders and the wrestlers must shimmy their way across the suspended ropes to pull the belt off. Which leaves them vulnerable to vicious body splattering attacks.

But the reason that most fans truly take to the X-Division is the fact that they can see that wrestling's pumping through each and every competitor's veins. Where most other organization have a cruiserweight division simply to have a place for smaller guys who can't compete. The X-Division uses their belt to showcase their spectacular talents.

Much like the WWE's Intercontinental title is used to push a star into a superstar, the X-Division title is a catapult to the top. Just look at the list of who's who's who have held the belt before, AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, and Kurt Angle. All have been shot to the top. And many others have gone on to either main event or compete in high profile matches, Kaz, Christopher Daniels, and soon to be Jay Lethal.

So next time you sit down and in X-Division match is on, tune in. Because you might be looking at the next big wrestling star.
