Kentucky Derby Results: Watch Animal Kingdom Conquer 137th Kentucky Derby

Animal Kingdom shocked the racing world and won the 137th  Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs. The race was one of the tightest fields and it did not disappoint.

While favorite Dialed In ended up finishing in eighth place, 30:1 odds long shot Animal Kingdom shocked everyone.

Nehro came in second place, while Mucho Macho Man came in third place. Shackleford faded late and ended up in fourth place.

Animal Kingdom paid $43.80, $19.60 and $13 on a $2 bet. Nehro returned $8.80 and $6.40. Mucho Macho Man paid $7.

NBC guest and Churchill Downs morning line maker Mike Battaglia picked Animal Kingdom, who had never run a race on dirt, to win. Let’s try to ask him who he is picking in the Shane Mosley vs. Manny Pacquiao fight.

Race doctor Larry Bramlage reported that they put a splint on Archarcharch’s leg after he pulled up lame at the end of the fight, but that he didn't seem to be in serious discomfort and went willingly onto the truck. The X-ray will only take five or 10 minutes and then a diagnosis will be made. 

I hope that Archarcharch is going to be fine and we should be thankful that this race went off with very little incident.

Besides that last moment of potential trouble, the race was fantastic and they day was perfect. It was another great Kentucky Derby and well do this again next year for two minutes.
