NHL in Small Markets: Why It Does and Does Not Work for Certain Teams (Podcast)
Welcome to another podcast of the T.J. McAloon and the Sports Half Hour. On this episode, we sat down with the Florida Panthers radio play-by-play announcer Randy Moller. If you are unaware of Randy's excellent work with the Panthers, do yourself a favor (of course, after the podcast) and search his name on YouTube. There you'll see that he has a unique way of weaving in pop culture references into his goal calls.
However, that was just a small sample of what was discussed on the podcast. The main topic was how hockey has succeeded in the Florida area.

Think about it: When you think of hockey and great ownerships, you think of the Canadian and the North American teams like Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, New York/Jersey, Buffalo, Chicago and Detroit.
(Side note: If I left out your city don't fire off a snide comment)
Randy is quick to point out that the Panthers have not only thrived in Florida, but they are set financially for quite awhile. However, you maybe saying, "Great Florida is doing well, but what about Phoenix?" Great point, and it's taken up in the podcast.
Take a listen if you enjoy hard facts about revenue sharing and how the Coyotes can survive in Glendale Arizona. Or how they will have to survive if they move back to Winnipeg and become the Jets again.
