In an Alternate Dimension Pt. 1...Ryan Leaf

Benji ZeledonOct 14, 2008

The first of my Alternate Dimension series we are back in 1998 and Ryan Leaf is drafted instead by Indianapolis, the Chargers taking Peyton second.

In this series I will post fake interviews and narratives of what would happen if things like Ryan Leaf actually succeeded in the NFL?

So enjoy.

I am on a bus stop in Indianapolis and next to me is none other than future Hall-of-Famer Ryan Leaf of the Colts team after their third straight AFC playoff win. Fans come and at random points bow at his feet passing by.

Ryan: I think I really made this city fall in love with football again. Five Super Bowls! We did something that no team has done...win five Super Bowls in a decade! I have a ring on every finger, so yes I am blessed in a way.

Me: Humility much?

Ryan: Yeah...me and Courtney made this charity in here for the inner city kids...it's their futures we are dealing.

Me: Wow that is pretty...noble?

Ryan: Yeah...Coach Dungy and Moore taught me how to really respect the league, man if I was in San Diego with that redneck Peyton I don't know how I would turn out...but here...

Me: You are aiming for Brett's passing records...

Ryan: Yeah you could say that...what did Peyton do again? Scream at his brother Eli?

Me: Right he is his backup isn't he?

Ryan: Yeah a fourth round pick...Now we have Bill Parcells here helping out...I am really happy for the Colts this year.

Me: Glad you are...what was the game against New England like?

Ryan: I dunno that kid Tom...he never held his own out here...never could...I guess it was my mad skills that keep kicking him.

Me: ?

Ryan: Kidding.

Me: Right...well thanks for the interview.

The Alternate Dimension database places Ryan Leaf of the Colts with:

75,433 passing yards at the end of his 21 year career all in Indianapolis. With 700 TDs and only 105 interceptions. NFL records on all categories with a Passer Rating of 100.1 and a completion PCT. of 70.1%

By the end he has seven super bowl rings, including the one he retired with to work in charity with his wife Courtney.

Thank God San Diego didn't pick him up!

Oh and if you where wondering about Peyton

He played 10 years in San Diego, Oakland, and Minnesota only finding possibilities at the end, finishing in Minnesota with an average 205 TDs to 187 interceptions. With another 32,000 passing yards mostly in Minnesota.

Eli would be a career backup for six years until he started for the Jets at the last year of his career doing fairly well for himself in his seventh year. with 30/15 and 3,200 yards passing.

San Diego must be some kind of hellish team to play for back then huh?
