WWE Extreme Rules: What We Want to See at WWE Over the Limit
After last night's Extreme Rules PPV, there are a lot of questions to be answered.
Will John Cena hold the title? What next for the Miz? And what on earth is going on with R-Truth?
Chances are, some of them will be answered in the coming week, but the bigger storylines will continue to play out at the end of the month with Over The Limit. What could we see...and what do we want to see?
WWE Over the Limit: A Miz Title Reclamation
1 of 10
John Cena taking the title was pathetic and dull, and executed in a tedious way. It looks from this as if Miz and Cena will continue to feud, as the top heel and face in the company, which is the obvious angle if rather predictable.
Miz was a great champion and I hope the title doesn't stay with Cena for the next year prior to his match against the Rock at WrestleMania.
A regular exchange of the belt, and perhaps even another Triple Threat match or two, would be much more interesting to see.
WWE Over the Limit: A Miz/Morrison Feud
2 of 10I'm still stuck on my wish for Miz and John Morrison to get their feud on. Much as Miz needs to rival Cena, we need something new.
Now Miz is without Alex Riley (a sad loss, in my opinion) to do his dirty work, he needs to exert his supremacy in some other way, and taking on his former partner (with cheating and tricks, of course) would be great.
WWE Over the Limit: Something for CM Punk to Do
3 of 10
No more Randy Orton for CM Punk to fight with; the Straight-Edge Society is dissolved; the Nexus may as well be. Give Punk something to do.
Maybe get him to feud with John Cena when Miz is occupied with JoMo. In fact, that Triple Threat match I mentioned earlier? Get Punk in that. He needs to be main-eventing.
WWE Over the Limit: Kharma to Crush All the Divas
4 of 10
Since Awesome Kong switched to WWE and changed her name to Kharma, I've been inventing all sorts of angles for her. They all finish with: "And then she crushes all the Divas. The end."
This is what I want to happen at Over The Limit. Use her sparingly in the month prior; let her wander on every so often and stare some random girl down before finishing quickly, just to remind us that she's still around.
At Over The Limit, stage a rubbishy eight-woman tag-team match or something, and then let Kharma run in and crush the lot of them. She could do it, you know.
WWE Over the Limit: Revitalising the Divas Division
5 of 10
And after Kharma does that, maybe we can get on with the serious business of having a proper Divas division.
Natalya's on Smackdown; Beth Phoenix is on Raw; wherever Kharma gets drafted to, she has someone who she'll be able to work with properly.
Whichever woman is her new rival can start the feud at Over The Limit once the dead weight like the Bellas are crushed.
WWE Over the Limit: Wade Barrett vs. Christian
6 of 10
The Corre are pretty much over now, right? Wade Barrett needs to specialise in singles competition and make a niche for himself as Smackdown's top heel now that Alberto Del Rio has switched to Mondays...and move up from battling for the midcard Intercontinental championship.
The new heavyweight champion Christian, particularly with all the Edge-related love for him at the moment, would be a perfect rival to help him do this.
Spend a month setting it up, and then watch them go. And don't let Edge turn up this time.
WWE Over the Limit: Something Interesting in the Tag-Team Division
7 of 10
Can any of us actually bear watching Big Show and Kane squash another pair of contenders? (Someone suggested to me earlier that Kane could put together a good feud with Barrett as well...I'd take that too.)
I hate to say it, but I think Slater/Gabriel's time is over. We need new challengers. Who could pair up and take them on?
Perhaps Mark Henry's new heel turn is signaling something. because he's certainly not going to be a singles contender...though too many giants in a match would be horrible to watch.
WWE Over the Limit: No More Cole/Lawler Feuding
8 of 10
Seriously. I mean it. If PPV time is taken up AGAIN with stupid gimmicks like this, I won't subscribe. Simple as that.
Let us remind ourselves that the US title match wasn't aired at WrestleMania, while Cole/Lawler got a good 20 minutes.
WWE Over the Limit: A New Angle for Cody Rhodes and Rey Mysterio
9 of 10
I am loving Cody Rhodes's new characterisation. I love the mask; I love the hoodie; I love the paper bags.
His feud with Rey Mysterio just seems to be getting started, and he needs to get some big-stage revenge.
Seriously...putting a paper bag on his head after Mark Henry's done the donkey work just doesn't cut it.
Over The Limit could be the place.
WWE Over the Limit: Other Things We'd Like to See
10 of 10
I'd also like to see:
- Sin Cara - but I don't think he'll be ready for a big live event quite yet, so I can sit tight until the summer if I have to. Still, the fact that they included him on the card, albeit in a dark match, signals that they may consider it;
- Chris Jericho's return, even in cameo; Fozzy aren't in the UK until June so the timescale may work;
- A Sheamus/Kofi Kingston rematch. I like watching these guys work. Throw Daniel Bryan in there and it'd be even better. Time for some young talent to get over;
- Talking of Bryan, there was a brilliant bit of speculation on Twitter last week that with him and William Regal both on Smackdown now, there's time and space for an angle there, perhaps with Regal running a stable. That would be great to see, and a high-profile launch would be terrific.
- No R-Truth. Ever.
What are you hoping for?
