WWE Extreme Rules 2011: Is One Night Stand a Better Name for the PPV?
A question has arose, what name is better for this Sunday's PPV: Extreme Rules or One Night Stand?
The obvious nostalgic answer is One Night Stand.
Every hardcore ECW fan wants the legacy of ECW to be remembered and to have Extreme Rules revert back to it's original name would do that.

But my question is: Is One Night Stand a better name for the PPV?
I am not saying Extreme Rules is the best name in the world for the PPV because matches on Extreme Rules can be seen on other PPVs unlike Hell in a Cell, Elimination Chamber and TLC.
So what is my point you ask?
One Night Stand does not fit what type of demographic the WWE is trying to reach.
What parent is going to let their under 13-year-old child watch a PPV entitled One Night Stand?
Is One Night Stand really the type of message a "TV-PG" company wants to spread to their audience?
I know, I know, One Night Stand does not refer to the socially acceptable meet and greet with a fine lady of the night, but to ECW's return with a One Night Stand PPV, where ECW was coming back for one night to pay homage to the countless fans it had acquired over it's years of growth and demise.
I would love for you to tell me in the comments if you think that One Night Stand is a better name for this PPV.
And please give me a reason as well.
My view is that One Night Stand as a PPV name is no longer relevant for this PPV.
It is a night where every match contains a stipulation that will make the match extreme.
It is no longer a One Night Stand, nor does it even contain any ECW originals, except for Rey Mysterio.
If Tommy Dreamer, Sabu, RVD, Justin Credible, The Blue Meanie and Steve Corino came back and lit the show on fire, then great, revert the name to One Night Stand, where for only one night a year you can relive the days of ECW.
But, if it is only going to be a gimmick PPV where every match can be a Steel Cage or a Ladder or a Whipping Match, then One Night Stand is no longer the logical name for the PPV.
So is One Night Stand a better name for the PPV, I don't think it is anymore. It had its time and now that time is over and died when Ezekiel Jackson won the ECW Championship.
