UFC 129 Results: St-Pierre vs Shields Slideshow Results and Reaction

With all the action just about to kick off, we will be here all night providing you with round-by-round analysis, reactions, and results.

We will be starting with the bouts on Facebook, then moving on to Spike TV, and finally the pay-per-view portion of the event.

Yves Jabouin vs Pablo Garza

Result: Pablo Garza wins via submission at 4:31 of the first round.

After some stand-up that featured some great leg kicks, Garza catches Jabouin in a flying triangle. After a bit of a struggle, Jabouin finally tapped out.

John Makdessi vs Kyle Watson

Result: Makdessi wins via knockout at 1:27 of the third round.

Round one—Watson was able to work his striking to keep Makdessi at bay. However, towards the end of the round Makdessi was able to find his range, which probably won him the round. 10-9 Makdessi

Round two— Makdessi really started to find his range and began finding Watson's chin on a regular basis. Makdessi hurt Watson with a left towards the end of the round. Makdessi can't miss with his counter left hand. 10-9 Makdessi

Round three—Makdessi cuts Watson early. Then a spinning backfist out of nowhere from Makdessi lands flush and Watson is out cold.

Jason MacDonald vs Ryan Jensen

Result: Jason MacDonald wins via submission (triangle choke) at 1:37 of round one.

Round one—Jensen comes out fast, and MacDonald gets the takedown and gets Jensen's back. After a bit of a scramble, MacDonald sinks in a triangle choke and it's all over.

Ivan Menjivar vs Charlie Valencia

Result: Ivan Menjivar wins via TKO at 1:30 of round one.

Round one—They trade some leg kids in the beginning. Then Menjivar nails Valencia with a short elbow that drops Valencia. 11 punches and a broken nose later, Big John stops the fight.

Claude Patrick vs Daniel Roberts

Result: Claude Patrick wins via unanimous decision (29-28 x 3)

Round one—Roberts comes out quick, but gets taken down by Patrick real quick like. Roberts is able to get back to his feet thanks to the kimura he was working. Long clinch battle slows down the action. Patrick gets another takedown and defends well off of his back. As Roberts gets up, Patrick unloads and hurts Roberts. 10-9 Patrick.

Round two—Patrick works some strikes before Roberts gets the takedown. Packrick gets up quickly and they're back in the clinch. After a little stand-up, Patrick gets the takedown. Roberts is quick to sweep to the top position. Roberts gets Patrick's back, but Patrick gets up quickly. Close round, but gotta go 10-9 Roberts.

Round three—After some stand-up, Patrick gets the takedown and the mount. Roberts is able to get back to his feet, but looks gassed. Roberts is desperately going for a takedown but can't get it. Roberts goes for a late takedown and Patrick jumps for a guillotine. 10-9 Patrick.

Sean Pierson vs Jake Ellenberger

Result: Jake Ellenberger wins via KO at 2:42 of round one.

Round one—Ellenberger starts the action with a left hand. Then another one. Ellenberger shoots, gets the takedown, but Pierson gets right back up. Then a counter left hook ends the night for Pierson.

Nick Diaz vs Rory MacDonald

Result: Rory MacDonald wins via unanimous decision (30-26 x 2, 30-27)

Round 1—About 1:30 in the round, MacDonald lands a clean right that makes Diaz clinch up. MacDonald gets Diaz' back on the ground, but Diaz gets up quickly. And now begins the taunting from Diaz. They clinch for a while and finally break. Diaz is pushing forward, goes for a single, but can't get it. Round one goes to MacDonald 10-9.

Round 2—Crowd is chanting "F*** you Diaz." Stay classy Canada. MacDonald is using his reach well. MacDonald is trying to take Diaz to the ground and does so. MacDonald realizes being in Diaz' guard isn't a good idea and gets up. Diaz is starting to find his range a land a few. Rory and Nate are trading and both are landing well. MacDonald finishes strong and takes round two 10-9.

Round 3—MacDonald is really looking to land the head kick. Diaz drops for an single and Rory slams Diaz down not once, but twice! That was awesome. Diaz is trying to keep this fight on the ground, but Rory slams him again! Wow. MacDonald is getting out-muscled with tow minutes left. MacDonald is looking too strong for Diaz and is working him over bad. All MacDonald, all day. 10-9 MacDonald.

Mark Bocek vs Ben Henderson

Result: Ben Henderson wins via unanimous decision (30-27 x 3)

Round 1—Bocek is taking it to Henderson early. Henderson is trying to win the battle of the clinch but the ref breaks them up. Bocek is right hand hunting, but Henderson is pumping out his jab and landing some nice leg kicks. Bocek goes for a takedown, Henderson defends well for a bit, but he eventually goes down. Bocek doesn't do much with his takedown. Henderson 10-9

Round 2—Henderson comes out aggressive and lands some nice shots. Bocek goes for a single and gets it, but he doesn't hold Bendo there for long. Henderson is landing knees from the clinch, but the ref breaks them up again. Henderson gets a takedown and is looking to drop bombs. Bocek is going for a leg lock, which leaves his head open for punches from Bendo. Bocek going for a guillotine, but Bendo gets out and starts going BEASTMODE on Bocek. Bocek has a nasty cut that has half his hair red. Very close round, but have to give it to Henderson 10-9

Round 3—Bocek get the takedown early, but doesn't do too much with it. He's trying to land some punches, but nearly all are missing. Bendo sweeps and starts dropping bombs on Bocek. Bocek is having some moments on the ground, but this is all Bendo on the ground and standing. Henderson 10-9

Vladimir Matyushenko vs Jason Brilz

Result:Vladimir Matyushenko wins via knockout at :20 of round one.

Round one—Vlad comes at Brilz hard. Vlad lands a right and Brilz is toast.

Randy Couture vs Lyoto Machida

Result: Lyoto Machida wins via knockout at 1:05 of round two

Darn it, this whole slide got deleted!

Round one—Randy pressed the action and tried for multiple takedowns. But Machida was able to get the better of the striking and avoided all the takedown attempts. 10-9 Machida

Round two—All you need to know is Lyoto landed a jumping front kick, and knocked out Couture and one of his upper teeth

Jose Aldo vs Mark Hominick

Result: Jose Aldo wins via decision (50-43, 48-46, 49-46)

Round one—Aldo lands a hard leg kick, and uppercut, and another leg kick, and another, followed by a left hook to the body. Hominick lands his first strike of the fight. Aldo is tearing up Hominick's lead leg. Hominick goes for an armbar, but Aldo gets out of harms way. Aldo is landing some nice, short, hard shots from Hominick's guard. Round ends by more leg kicks from Aldo and another takedown. Easy 10-9 for Aldo.

Round two—Aldo seems to be looking to counter Hominick, but it's not working too well. Hominick is starting to open up and land a few body shots. Wow, Hominick is taking it to Aldo, landing by far the better punches. Aldo gets the fight to the ground, but isn't landing anything to write home about. After a stand up by the ref, Aldo shoots in again and gets a takedown, but doesn't do anything with it. 10-9 Hominick

Round 3—Hominick comes out working his hands and legs nicely. For every strike Aldo lands, it seems Hominick lands two or three. Aldo shoots, and Hominick stuffs it. Aldo is starting to look a little better as he lands some more leg kicks and some punches, but Hominick is throwing the straighter punches. Hominick is clearly the fresher of the two. Aldo goes for another takedown and gets stuffed again. Aldo catches and drops Hominick. He lays down the heavy leather, but Hominick is ok. 10-9 Aldo for hurting Hominick late.

Round 4—More leg kicks from Aldo start the round, followed by a straight right that hurt Hominick. Also seems to have gotten his second wind, but Hominick gets nailed in the nuts for the second time this round. Hominick is favoring his lead leg now after all the leg kick. Aldo drops Hominick again with a straight right and starts doing work from Hominick's guard. Hominick looks like someone put a softball under his forehead. Aldo going back in to beast mode now. The doctor takes a look at that huge lump and gives Hominick the OK to fight on. All Aldo now. 10-9 Aldo.

Round 5—Doctor takes a good look at Hominick before he lets him come out for the round. His face is a mess. Aldo is landing more and more punches and Hominick shoots and gets the takedown. Hominick is leaking blood like crazy from the multiple cuts on his face. Hominick is landing some solid shots that causes Aldo to attempt to control Mark's wrists. This is Hominick's best round by far. He's working Aldo over hardcore and the round is only half over. Hominick is landing more and more punches and Aldo has no answers. The last 4:30 was all Hominick.  10-8 Hominick

Georges St-Pierre vs Jake Shields

Result: Georges St-Pierre wins via decision (50-45, 48-47, 48-47)

Round one—Both fighters are working their jabs and kicks. Shields catches a kick, but can't get GSP down. GSP looks a little timid, but then he throws a spinning back kick. There goes that theory. GSP is working his jab well. GSP counters a Shields jab with a nice right hand. GSP is loosening up, and he drops Shields with a jab, the knocks him back again with a jab. Shields tries to catch a kick again, but can't get the fight to the mat. GSP is finding his groove now. 10-9 GSP.

Round two—GSP picks up right where he left off. Shields keeps missing, as GSP is still landing his jab. Shields finally lands a decent leg kick. HUGE overhand right lands for GSP and Shields is on his bicycle. GSP may be getting a little right hand happy now, but the way Shields pulls straight back, it may work. Shields clinched, but GSP gets out quickly. More jabs from GSP, some leg kicks from Shields, and spinning back kicks from GSP. Another 10-9 for GSP

Round three—Shields comes out aggressive, but that lasts all of 15 seconds, then it's back to the same routine. Jabs and crazy overhand rights from GSP, leg kicks and failed takedown attempts by Shields. Wow, GSP actually gets a take down at the end of the round. 10-9 GSP.

Round four—After an exchange, GSP gets the takedown, but doesn't want to play that game and gets back up. Even Joe Rogan is saying that GSP needs to go for the finish. Wow...St-Pierre drops Shields with a head kick, but doesn't try to finish. Horrible. Same s*it, another round. 10-9 GSP.

Round five—Both guys come out fast, but don't throw much. GSP throws more jabs and overhand rights, staggers Shields, but doesn't try to finish. Go Figure. GSP is bleeding. Highlight of the fight so far. Hometown crowd is booing. It's over thank god. 50-45 GSP
