Dan Rafael: Thin-Skinned Tweet Blocker David Haye "Can't Handle the Truth!"

Johnny WalkerApr 30, 2011

ESPN.com boxing scribe Dan Rafael was in rare form during his regular Friday afternoon chat session last week.

When not going after Shannon Briggs, who has become a regular Rafael nemesis, the man known to his online followers as the "King Freak"  was unloading his sardonic and stinging criticism on WBA heavyweight champion David Haye of England.

The reason for Rafael's ire?  Haye has apparently blocked the journalist's favorite weapon of choice, his Twitter account.

Rafael, of course, chooses what comments and questions get posted during these chats, allowing him to develop certain themes in each session.

On this occasion, Rafael urged his cyber-crowd of devotees (the "Freaks") to comment on reasons why the man he has previously lampooned as "The Ducker" will find a way to avoid his scheduled July 2 unification showdown with Wladimir Klitschko.

"Menstrual cramps" was one theory offered up, to the journalist's amusement.  Rafael himself speculated that a case of the gout might be Haye's excuse for ducking the fight.

After tiring of this line of trash talk, Rafael moved on to the real reason for his ire: Haye's cyber-blockade of his boxing tweets.

Agreeing with one "freak" who labelled Haye a "thin-skinned crybaby" when it comes to his critics in the boxing press ("not just with me," Rafael noted), Rafael said it was "definitely an honor" to be tweet-blocked by Haye.

When asked to speculate on the specific reason for Haye's actions, Rafael was, as ever, blunt.

"He can't handle the truth," said the snarky boxing scribe.
