SEC Power Rankings, Week Seven

David WunderlichOct 13, 2008

This is my ballot for the SEC Power Poll. For more information, see SECPowerPoll.com

1. Alabama

I thought about not voting for Alabama as No. 1 just to make people wonder who didn't, but I figured the other esteemed voters would appreciate me taking it seriously. As the only undefeated team left, especially with the big win over Georgia, no one else can be at the top.

2. Florida

The Gators finally played up to their potential against LSU, but they won't be able to play that well every week. How well they can play on a regular basis will determine if this win over LSU is the high point of the season.

3. Georgia

How many more injuries can the Bulldogs sustain?

4. LSU

The Tigers aren't as bad as they looked against Florida, but, as I said last week, they hadn't really been challenged yet. Can they respond? So far under Miles, they've been able to.

5. Vanderbilt

I said last week that the game against Mississippi State sounded like a setup. Now that the Commodores have had their trap-game loss, can they sustain the early season success?

6. South Carolina

The Gamecocks have won four straight, and that's good enough for sixth in the conference in my book right now.

7. Ole Miss

Is this really the seventh-best team in the league right now? I guess so, but this is looking more and more like a down year for the conference.

8. Kentucky

The best thing going for it right now is the close loss to Alabama. Losing Lyons hurts badly.

9. Mississippi State

The Bulldogs are on the board finally in conference play. Whether they will again is anyone's guess, but the game against Arkansas will say a lot in that regard.

10. Arkansas

The Razorbacks are on the board finally in conference play. Whether they will again is anyone's guess, but the game against Mississippi State will say a lot in that regard.

11. Tennessee

What a mess.

12. Auburn

I have made the 12th spot ceremonial this week, and Auburn gets it. The Tigers fire the offensive coordinator and then go out and lose to the previous holder of the 12 spot. I hope they're happy.
