Donald Trump to own Affliction Along with Elite XC, Strikeforce, and I'm Dreamin

Brian OswaldOct 13, 2008

In an unprecedented move within the MMA community, Donald Trump has come to financial terms to purchase all four of the fledgling MMA organizations. The Donald felt that it was time the bullies on the block, also know as UFC, got to feel the “heat” of competition.

I tried to catch up with Dana White to get his thoughts but had no success. Instead his people sent me and MP3 file with audio of a comment Dana recently directed toward Elite XC’s president Jared Shaw. The audio goes as follows:

“These idiots pop up and they start throwing all this money around and they think they're going to come out and go head to head and compete with the UFC? “

Apparently the brass over at UFC maintains their opinion.

While the following scenario is very unlikely to happen, it made one wonder. If the best fighters outside of the UFC were all housed in one organization would this be enough to compete against the juggernaut that is the UFC?

The great thing about being a writer is you can conjurer up any scenario you’d like to see happen. After watching that DVD “The Law of Attraction” enough times anyone can start to believe they can make anything happen. Let’s start creating our own reality right now…

By taking a look at what this new organization’s first fight card could look like. Maybe if The Donald googles his own name along with MMA he will find this article, read over it with care, and make the deal happen.

Let’s take a look at the potential fight card:

Main Event: Fedor vs. Arlovski                   (The fight everyone expects to happen)

265 lbs. Josh Barnett vs. Mark Hunt                               (Barnett can avenge his loss)

265 lbs. Mirko Cro Cop vs. Alistair Overeem            (Cro Crop can avenge the nut shots)

265 lbs. Aleksander Emelianenko vs. Sergei Kharitonov        (Rematch between the two)

265 lbs. Tim Sylvia vs. Antonio Silva                                     (Battle of the Big Men)

265 lbs. Ben Rothwell vs. Roy Nelson                                     (Battle of the Bulge)

205 lbs. Antonio Nogueira vs. Vladimir Matyushenko          (The best non-ufc light HW’s)

205 lbs. Tito Ortiz vs. Renato Sobral                       (A great fight for Tito to return to)

205 lbs. Ricardo Arona vs. Travis Wuff                     (A fun fight for Arona to return to)

185 lbs. Gerard Mousasi vs. Vitor Belfort               (Already rumored & anticipated fight)

185 lbs. Robbie Lawler vs. Cung Lee                     (A striking fan’s dream)

185 lbs. Kazuo Misaki vs. Frank Trigg                    (These two are on a collision course)

185 lbs. Matt Lindland vs. Ronaldo Souza                (What a ground war this would be)

185 lbs. Yoshihiro Akiyama vs. Melvin Manhoef         (Another striking fan’s dream)

185 lbs Jason Miller vs. Joey Villasenor                    (The best of the rest face off)

170 lbs. Jake Shields vs. Nick Diaz                          (The fight Shields didn’t want)

The rest of the Welterweight division is a bit thin so you can look for your more matchups. On the opposite end of the spectrum there are plenty of “dream fights” all coming from that one organization Adding KJ Noons from Elite XC along with Jake Thompson and Gilbert Melendez from Strikeforce make this one of the most exciting divisions in MMA. I will let you use your imagination with this division.

After looking at the different divisions I would score the fight between UFC vs. Everyone Else 2-2-1. I would give the heavyweight and lightweight divisions to Everyone Else. Cleary the light heavyweight and welterweight divisions would go to the UFC. And the middleweight, I would have to call it a draw although one could debate that draw.

While all the fights listed probably wouldn’t go on one fight card it’s just an idea of the great fights that could be put on any one card.

Does anyone have Donald Trump’s cell phone? I think he is overdue a text message.

So there you have it. While The Donald may not be buying up all four of these organizations anytime soon (especially after the Elite XC debacle) it clearly makes sense for these organizations to sit down at the table and see how they can all co-exist, make a profit, entertain their fans, and survive against the 800lb Gorilla in the room that is the UFC.
