UFC 129 Video: Watch Georges St-Pierre & Jake Shields Weigh-in Highlights
Ladies and gentlemen, tonight is the night that UFC fans all over the world have been waiting for.
Tonight is UFC 129, live from the Rogers Centre in Toronto. There are expected to be at least 55,000 people in the building, which will be by far the largest crowd in UFC history—and the third biggest mixed martial arts crowd in history.
The main event of the evening will be UFC welterweight champion, and Canadian hero, Georges St. Pierre defending his championship against former five-time world champion, Jake Shields.
There were reportedly over 6,000 screaming fans in attendance for the weigh-in yesterday, an insane number when you think about what they were watching.
St-Pierre and Shields both made weight—Shields weighed in at 169 pounds, St. Pierre 169.5.
The build up to the fight has been a back and forth lovefest between these two. St. Pierre has been telling anyone who will listen that Shields is hands down the most difficult fighter that he has ever gotten into the cage with. Shields has been praising St. Pierre's style and how dominant he has been over the last four years.
But we are at zero hour, and the time for talk is almost over. All that will be left is to lock these two men inside the octagon for five rounds of action.
St. Pierre has the advantage in almost every area of the game, with the exception of ground control.
Don't discount Shields, though. He has been the underdog so many times before, but has always found a way to walk away with his hand raised in victory.
