Date with Destiny? Texas Tech Remains Undefeated

faunchinOct 13, 2008

I can’t seem to get that 1973 Bob Dylan tune out of my head. You know the one, “Knock, knock, knockin' on Destiny’s door.”

Oh yeah, I know in the original lyrics it’s “Heaven’s door,” but this is 2008, and Texas Tech Football has me humming that old tune and singing the refrain with new lyrics.

“Knock, knock, knockin' on Destiny’s door...”

After an easy non-conference schedule and beginning Big 12 play with a win over Kansas State, 58-28, the Red Raiders were nervously pacing the sidewalk leading to Destiny’s door.

“Knock, knock, knockin' on Destiny’s door...”

The Red Raiders did a nervous shuffle on that sidewalk with their overtime win over Nebraska, 37-31. However, Tech remains undefeated.

“Knock, knock, knockin' on Destiny’s door...”

With each win, Tech takes a step closer to Destiny’s door. Next week, Tech plays at Big 12 bottom-dwelling Texas A&M.

“Knock, knock, knockin' on Destiny’s door...”

After the Aggies it’s Kansas, a ranked top 20 team.

“Knock, knock, knockin' on Destiny’s door...”

With a win against the Jayhawks, Tech will be on Destiny’s doorstep when Texas arrives in Lubbock to play at the Jones. Should the Red Raiders beat the Longhorns, they will be pounding on that door.

“Knock, knock, knockin' on Destiny’s door...”

The Raiders will be calling Destiny out when they play at Oklahoma. And then we will know if Destiny has been teasing them or if she’s accepting a date.

“Knock, knock, knockin' on Destiny’s door...”
