NFL Draft 2011 Results: Recapping Draft Picks 25-28
The 2011 NFL draft results come in with pick Nos. 25 through 28. This was an interesting group to hit the first round.
There was one team in particular that decided to dig deep for what they needed. While I was surprised at first, the Seahawks got exactly what they needed in the end.
The rest are flashy athletes that are sure to amaze us with highlights for the next few seasons. I am really excited to see how the next four stars will fare at the next level.
They all have the speed and power to make a difference immediately. All of this has me wishing the season would hurry up and get here. Here is a rundown of the next four future stars to hit the NFL.
Seattle Seahawks Take James Carpenter at No. 25
1 of 4
The Seattle Seahawks have a great many things to worry about headed into next season.
First and foremost is at quarterback.
Whoever the do decide will take snaps, most likely free-agent Matt Hasselbeck, he will be well looked after.
At first I was shocked that Gabe Carimi remained after this pick. I do like James Carpenter for one glaring reason: He is versatile lineman that can switch between guard and tackle with no problem.
He has great footwork and will turn the Seahawks line into a stout one that will take defenses a while to crack.
Kansas City Chiefs Take Jonathan Baldwin at No. 26
2 of 4
The Chiefs have issues on defense that they will no doubt answer in the following rounds, starting in earnest on Friday.
They also wanted a receiver to play alongside Dwayne Bowe.
They couldn't have asked for a better talent at this point in the draft.
Baldwin is as strong as he is quick. He will explode downfield and use his power to set blocks if need be. He has some of the best hands in the business and will be a gem for quarterback Matt Cassel.
Baltimore Ravens Take Jimmy Smith at No. 27
3 of 4
The Ravens put heavy stock in their defense. Baltimore was in need of some depth in their secondary.
They just nabbed a shutdown talent with some character issues.
I have confidence that one of the best franchises in the league will set Jimmy Smith straight. Smith has a great ability to stop any and all that stand in his way.
He has great instincts on the ball and will have more than a few interceptions to start off a wonderful career.
New Orleans Saints Take Mark Ingram at No. 28
4 of 4
The Saints are back in contention.
The Saints needed two items before the draft was over. They shored up their most glaring needs right off the bat in the first round.
Getting DE Cameron Jordan was great, stealing RB Mark Ingram was fantastic. Ingram can stand in for Reggie Bush if he fails to re-sign with the team.
If Bush returns, watch out. The Saints will have one of the best backfields in the business.
