UFC 129 Video Interview: Dana White Talks Couture Retirement, Royce Gracie

Following the UFC 129 pre-fight press conference, UFC President Dana White took a few minutes to speak with Ariel Helwani of MMA Fighting.

During the interview, White talked about several things related to the upcoming UFC 129 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The event is expected to break a record for attendance at a North American mixed martial arts event with 55,000 tickets sold.

Previously hesitant to orchestrate an event on such a large scale, White is more excited than anxious about the event.

"We're gonna blow people's minds on Saturday," White said.

White also weighed in on Randy Couture's announcement that he is planning on retiring from MMA after his UFC 129 fight against Lyoto Machida. White said he has seen Couture return from retirement before, and he is skeptical that the 47-year-old will remain retired this time.

"As long as the guy's healthy and able to compete, I think he's always going to be looking for challenges. It's hard to walk away when you're a real fighter like he is," White said, "Couture's a competitor, and I think whenever there's a time where he thinks he wants to go out and compete against another human being, he's gonna come out and do it."

White also changed his tone on the idea of Royce Gracie returning to the Octagon. After previously stating that he wasn't interested in booking Gracie for a fight at UFC 134 in Rio de Janeiro, White said that he is now open to the idea.

"The guy's a legend, and what he's been telling me is he wants one more fight. He started in the UFC; he wants to retire in the UFC," White said, "I'm going to talk to him and see what he says."
