UFC 129 Video Interview: Jake Shields Talks Georges St-Pierre's Weaknesses
Jake Shields will meet UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St-Pierre at UFC 129, and he says that he is aware of some small holes in the champions game that no other fighter has been able to exploit in St-Pierre's last eight fights.
In an interview with Ariel Helwani from MMA Fighting, Shields wasn't about to go into detail about St-Pierre's weaknesses, but he is prepared to take advantage of them.
"The guy doesn't have a lot of weaknesses, so it's just finding small holes. He has small weaknesses here and there," Shields said. "He has small weaknesses in his stand-up, small weaknesses in his jiu-jitsu. His wrestling has been looking pretty amazing, but I've been watching some tapes, seeing some small things here and there, and I plan on going out and exploiting them."
As a heavy favorite heading into the fight, some are wondering whether St-Pierre may be looking past Shields. Shields doesn't think that St-Pierre and his team are slacking at all in preparation for the fight, though.
"His camp respects the skills I have and they're prepared for an all-out war."
When asked about his prediction for the fight, Shields wasn't sure of the method, but he expects to defeat St-Pierre and become UFC Welterweight Champion.
"It's going to be one of those tough, back-and-forth, all-out wars, so I can't really say how it's going to finish, but I see myself winning."
