Tony Romo out for 4 weeks, what now for the Dallas Cowboys?

Phillip SchmitzOct 13, 2008

It was already a bad day to be a Dallas Cowboys fan with Sunday's loss to the Arizona Cardinals. Then the day got a whole lot worse when word broke that Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo broke his pinkie finger and could be out for four weeks.

Now with Romo being on the sidelines, what do the Cowboys do on offense against the Rams and the next four weeks?

The Cowboys should have success running the football against the Rams. Clinton Portis had two touchdowns and with the injury to Tony Romo I expect a heavy dose of Marion Barber. Felix Jones has a hamstring injury, but I don't know how bad that is.

Also, add the fact that Adam (Pacman) Jones has an upcoming meeting with the Roger Goodell which could bring a suspension.

In addition, you have to wonder how long the Dallas Cowboys sideline will allow Terrell Owens to continue his complaining. If Dallas continues to struggle, it wont be long until Terrell Owens pops his mouth.

So Dallas has plenty of issues right now. They need to fix their offensive line because the Cardinals were able to put plenty of pressure on Romo with just four guys.

Making Brad Johnson the starter isn't as bad as it seems. Johnson is a good veteran quarterback who brings a Super Bowl win and experience in big games. He isn't as mobile as Romo so their will have to be better protection in the pocket. He also probably won't be as crisp and strong throwing the ball like he was in his prime. So don't expect him to be Tony Romo.

If your a Dallas Cowboys fan, this injury could make or break their season. Their next opponent is the St. Louis Rams, who won a tough game on the road against the Washington Redskins. The Cowboys can't sleep on the Rams.

After that they face a tough stretch of three games against the Buccaneers, Giants, and Redskins with a bye in between the Giants and the Redskins. As of now they are a game behind the Giants in the NFC East, and if the Giants win they could be two games back. As for the rest of the NFC, the Cowboys are tied with the Cardinals, Buccaneers, Panthers, and Falcons who are all 4-2.

In my mind, the next four games will decide where the Cowboys are in the NFC and in the NFL.
