New York Giants NFL Draft: The Prince of New York Talks About His Draft Day
A top ten talent on boards throughout the league, thanks to the value of defensive lineman and the early run on quarterbacks, Prince Amukamara fell into the Giants lap at pick No. 19.
Now he'll add to one of the NFL's best defenses and add another weapon to this pass defense.
I got a chance to talk to Prince in New York City to reflect on his draft experience and what his plans are for the upcoming season.
On Being Taken by the Giants

As Prince fell on Draft Day and Giants fans saw him sitting there at No. 19, they knew he was the best value for their team, disregarding needs.
"Yeah, I heard the chants 'We want Prince.'"
"I haven't talk to anyone really in the Giants before this. It's very odd."
"Coach Coughlin seemed like a great guy, great coach, heard he's pretty stern from reporters. My personality will probably loosen him up a bit"
"All I remember was I laughing and smiling"
On "Falling" in the First Round

Like said previously, myself and many NFL teams had him valued as a Top 10 pick, but Prince fell a bit on draft day.
"I definitely had a Brady Quinn flashback, and just pictured him waiting. But I knew that it was nothing I could control and just waited for the phone call. I expected the worst. I don't think I got the worst at all."
One thing is for sure: Prince is ready to play and is confident he can proven teams wrong.
"I'm looking forward to facing ALL 18 teams that passed on me."
On Advice Given

Going through the NFL Draft process is no easy task. I asked Prince who he leaned on throughout the process, and he expectedly said another former first round Nebraska Cornhusker.
"Ndamukong Suh was a big person that I leaned on throughout the process. Told me to act like a pro and get ready to work. Suh never talked about the Lions with me."
On His Style of Play

"I don't really model my game after anybody. Guys like Darrelle Revis, Nnamdi Asmunga. I feel I fit their style of play."
"In college I was very aggressive with the WR after five yards, and in the NFL that's a big no-no. In the off-season, I played with my feet more than my hands."
Thoughts About New York so Far

Now in the spotlights of New York City, Prince Amukamara had never been to the center of the media hub, and had a bit of an adjustment to make.
"This is my first trip [to New York City]. A lot of lights. I rode the subway for the first time. I went to my first baseball game, a Yankees game."
