NFL Draft 2011: Who's There for the Buccaneers in the Second Round?

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have some good-looking prospects for tonight's second round of the NFL draft.

So what's it going to be?

Would you be surprised if they followed last year's footprint and went back-to-back on defensive ends, in the same mold, the same manner they went Gerald McCoy-Brian Price last year?

How about the fall of Da'Quan Bowers?

Once projected as a guy who could go No. 1 overall, he fell totally out of the first round, which tells you there is probably a major medical issue with that bum knee of his. The major fear is that it is arthritic and you're looking at a one-contract player, meaning he might not last five years in the league.

That's too big a risk for the first round, perhaps too big for the second.

Defensive end prospects that the Bucs might see include Allen Bailey of Miami, Justin Houston of Georgia, Christian Ballard from Iowa, Jabaal Sheard from Pittsburgh and Pierre Allen of Nebraska.

Of course, Bowers might still be around, but why take a guy who may not last long?

Houston is rumored to have failed a drug test, another possible reason for his fall.

If Bailey is there at 51, he might be their guy. He's 6'3", 285, a perfect fit for the Buc defense.

There will be a nice selection of linebackers in the second round, and don't be surprised if the Bucs take a guy like Mason Foster from Washington, a 6'2", 242-pound fireball. They are very familiar with Akeem Ayers of UCLA, but don't look for him to be around when the Bucs use the 51st overall pick.

They also like Martez Wilson from Illinois and Bruce Carter from North Carolina.

If they want to go corner, then Brandon Harris from Miami or Ras-I Dowling from Virginia might be tempting the boys at One Buc Place.

Whoever it may be, odds are they're going defense.
