After watching Karl Klug's 4.85 second 40 time at Iowa's pro day in March, it's a bit surprising this 6'3" 275-lb defensive end was once a running back. He's lost a lot of his speed, though his first step is still impressive.
A Second-Team All-Big Ten selection in 2010, Klug registered 5.5 sacks and 57 tackles his senior season, but most experts agree he's already reached his ceiling and doesn't have much room to grow further as a player.
Regardless of criticism, Klug has found a way to maintain production throughout his career and seems like good late-round value.
Tennessee went heavy on defense this draft, but Klug is the first defensive end the Titans selected. Not necessarily a need but an addition that could impact special teams immediately and a nice roll of the dice for a larger contribution down the line.
