WWE Extreme Rules: Predictions for the Event and the Following Weeks
WWE Extreme Rules is right around the corner. The PPV where every match is no-DQ and all have a stipulation.
Arguably the most anticipated match is the Ladder match for the vacant World Heavyweight Title between Alberto Del Rio and Christian. Both men are looking for their first World title in WWE, but their paths have been very different.
Del Rio is the newcomer who took WWE by storm by defeating Rey Mysterio in his debut match and going on to win the Royal Rumble within just a few months after coming to the major leagues.

Christian on the other hand is someone who is a long time veteran of WWE. His time in TNA was fruitful, but his true goal is to win a WWE World Championship, and Sunday could be his chance to finally achieve the dream.
Christian is thought to be the top choice by many due to the fact that if Del Rio wins Smackdown will be left without a major title. The last time WWE did that they put the title back on the blue brand within days.
I see Christian winning this match and going on to feud with Orton.
The match between John Cena, John Morrison and Miz is actually hard for me to call. Miz has been on a roll since winning, but with his lackey, Alex Riley, unable to intervene due to the steel cage, we could see Cena or Morrison win. Morrison is still looking for his first World Title and this could be his chance.![]()
There have been many reports of recent heat on Morrison for his handling of his match with Trish Stratus, but backstage heat does not always stop someone from winning a title.
My guess would be Miz retaining in some cheap fashion, but I would not be surprised of either one of the Johns walks out with the belt. Could R-Truth get involved? We shall see.
The tag match between Jack Swagger, Michael Cole, Jerry Lawler and Jim Ross is one that I am not very interested in. This match would have been better on Raw.
In short, I see Lawler and Ross getting the win with Ross working over Cole the whole match while Lawler keeps Swagger busy.
The Divas match between Michelle McCool and Layla is one match I am looking forward to. These two women had a great exchange on Friday and they could potentially put on the best divas match in years if given the right amount of time.
I hope Layla gets the win because she is in more need of a boost than Michelle, but with the Divas title being on one of the Bellas, I could see Layla going to Raw and taking the belt from Nikki, or Brie, whichever one has it. (It's Bree - ED.)
Randy Orton vs. CM Punk will most likely steal the show. These two have had the most intense rivalry going into Extreme Rules.
Orton has been on a roll lately and has a 2-0 record against Punk in their recent matches. I want to see Punk get the win but if he does it will most likely be due to Nexus interference.
Mason Ryan is the man I expect to attack Orton, and after what we saw on Raw with Mason and Punk having a short disagreement we could see Mason turn on Punk.
And finally the Falls Count Anywhere match between Mysterio and Rhodes. Rhodes picked up the win at WrestleMania and Mysterio returned the favor with a win the following week.
Mysterio has had a strange career the last few years. He hasn't found a defining feud and sort of seems to jump from opponent to opponent, so I am glad to see a continued storyline with him.
Rhodes is impressing me more and more every week. I hope he gets the win on Sunday because his career path can only get better from here.
When he first moved to Smackdown, I was skeptical if he could perform well without partners, but he has proven he can be a good heel.
I am thinking Mysterio will lose again this Sunday.
