NBA Playoffs 2011: Will the Orlando Magic Really Win the Series?
The short answer to the above question and article name is yes. At least, I believe they will.
The Magic easily played their best game of the series against the Hawks last night, winning by 25 points. What Magic fans should be happy with in this game is something unexpected. Dwight Howard only made one field goal and played a shade under 29 minutes in the Orlando victory.
Why is this good? Because the rest of the team finally gave Howard some support. It took him getting into foul trouble and leaving the game in the first quarter, but the team finally came together for a win that wasn't on Howard's back.
JJ Redick shot out of his slump, shooting a phenomenal 6-8 from the field and scoring 14 points. Hedo Turkoglu, despite playing just 18 minutes, shot 4-7, a much improved 4-7 from the field, and was actually somewhat effective.
The Magic defense (or lack of Hawk's offense) was what really won Orlando this game. Orlando held the Hawks to just 36.2 percent from the field. The Hawks were only able to score 76 points as well.
Going into Game 5 the Magic now have the momentum. If they can win Game 6, they would force a Game 7 at home where the Magic are 29-12 on the regular season.
Another key factor to take into account is Orlando got Dwight Howard some much-needed rest in Game 5. This might be key for the next two games. Start believing in Magic because a comeback is imminent.
