NFL Draft 2011: Pete Carroll Not Fooling Anyone with Twitter Clues
With the 2011 NFL Draft a day away, Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll (@PeteCarrol) has begun tweeting supposed draft day clues for fans. These clues come in the form of popular songs.
On Wednesday, he tweeted three of these clues. The first was I’m Alright by Kenny Loggins, which was followed by Eminem’s Not Afraid and the Top Gun anthem Danger Zone. Supposedly these songs selection give you a clue as to what the Seahawks may do on Thursday evening.
Come on Pete, nobody is buying this.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
First of all, no coach or general manager can be trusted when it comes to the draft. If a team openly gushes about a player you might as well cross him off their list.
With all the draft day wheeling and dealing that goes on, no organization is going to leak their plan. If anything, they may leak misinformation to throw the other franchises off the scent.
As an example, there have been reports from various sources (some claiming legitimate inside scoops) that say the Seahawks are going to do everything from trading out of the first round to taking Andy Dalton at No. 25. If there is a draft day scenario available, it’s been reported as a possibility.
How much of this is actual inside information and how much is reporters being fed lies?
Pete Carroll and his Twitter game is all a ruse as well. Does he expect us to break down these three songs and try and solve the supposed riddle? As if we are that gullible.
Nobody in their right mind would waste their time doing that.
Does he expect us to examine a song like Danger Zone, from a movie about Navy Pilots defending our nation? Like we would bother speculating that means they are going to draft a defensive player, who would do that.
Or does he think we will go back and forth debating whether I’m Alright means they like Christian Ponder and feel his arm is healthy. Please, we don’t have time for that, we have mock drafts to memorize.
Does Carroll think we will believe they are “not afraid” to trade down because Coach likes Eminem?
As if any self-respecting writer or fan would bother reading anything into these songs, when we have serious things to argue and write about. Things like, what number Christian Ponder will wear next year.
