WWE Draft 2011 Results: Comparing the Raw and SmackDown Brands After Draft

Josh LoganApr 26, 2011

The WWE 2011 Draft has come and gone leaving the WWE Universe in shambles.

A few familiar faces remain and both major heel factions did not lose any members, but the rest of the WWE is scratching their heads in disbelief.

Over the last two days we've seen John Cena go to Smackdown and back to RAW.

We've seen giants move from show to show and a complete 360 in midcard and main event talent.

Heck, RAW now only has two champions, and a half if you count Big Show, while Smackdown has actually three and a half, counting Kane, but the WHC is vacant at the moment.

With all this said and done it is time to look at both brands and see what has changed for the better, for the worse and just what needs to never happen again.

RAW

WWE Champion: The Miz

Main Contenders, the WWE Championship

  • John Cena
  • Alberto Del Rio
  • CM Punk
  • Jack Swagger
  • Big Show
  • Rey Mysterio
  • John Morrison
  • R-Truth
  • Drew McIntyre
  • Kofi Kingston
  • Dolph Ziggler

Midcard Single Competitors

  • Evan Bourne
  • David Otunga
  • Mason Ryan
  • Michael Tarver
  • Skip Sheffield
  • Goldust
  • Chris Masters
  • Tyler Reks

Current Tag Teams

  • Big Show (of Big Show and Kane) (The Unified Tag Team Champions)
  • Santino Marrela and Vladimir Kozlov
  • DZP (Zack Ryder and Primo)
  • Nexus (Michael McGuillicuty and Husky Harris)

Possible Tag Competitors

  • Curt Hawkins
  • JTG
  • David Hart Smith

Divas Champion: Brie Bella

Main Contenders for the Divas Championship

  • Gail Kim
  • Beth Phoenix
  • Maryse
  • Melina
  • Eve

Other Divas

  • Kelly Kelly
  • Nikki Bella

Overall RAW has a very deep contender list for The Miz's WWE Championship.

It's too bad though that there are a lot of midcarders who have nothing to fight for.  It looks like Superstars is going to have a lot of fresh blood.

The Tag Team Division is not terrible, but a few teams could be reworked and redeveloped.

And finally on RAW, the Divas division is looking good and with the addition of either Michelle McCool or Layla after Extreme Rules and possibly the debut of Kharma, the Divas division might grow into something special.

SmackDown

  • Daniel Bryan
  • Ted Dibiase
  • Alex Riley

  • Brodus Clay
  • William Regal

  • Kane (of Big Show and Kane) (The Unified Tag Team Champions)
  • The Corre (Heath Slater and Justin Gabriel)
  • The Usos (Jey Uso and Jimmy Uso)

Possible Tag Competitors

  • Trent Baretta

Other Divas

  • Natalya
  • Tamina
  • Michelle McCool
  • Layla
  • Alicia Fox
  • Kaitlyn
  • Rosa Mendes

SmackDown has a decent roster for itself.

It only has a handful, or less, of World Heavyweight Championship Contenders, but makes up for that with the abundance of two Midcard Championships.

SmackDown only has one Tag Team and that is pretty sad.

The SmackDown divas are okay, but not as good as RAWs are.

Overall, RAW is the much better brand, minus the abundance of midcarders with nothing to do.

SmackDown is lacking in numbers, but has the possibility of growing some nice competitors.

RAW has some good young talent to bloom as well.

I cannot wait to see where the WWE is going after Extreme Rules.
