WWE Countdown: 5 Superstars Who Should Have Been Heavyweight Champion More Often

Justin WeltonApr 26, 2011

Some superstars are Heavyweight Champion several times. Some are champion multiple times. Some are champion once. What is the difference between those superstars?

This list goes out to the wrestlers that have won it before, but deserved to be champion several more times.

Wrestling is great entertainment. All of these superstars shined in their era in their own specific ways. They deserved to be champion more than they were.

No 5: Sgt. Slaughter

1 of 5

He was only champion one time. The cobra clutch/camel clutch was pretty fierce if you ask me. He played the role of Sgt. pretty well.

I think that he deserved to be champion more than once in his career. That just didn't happen, though. He has been great to the WWE since he joined the business even after he stopped wrestling.

No 4: The Ultimate Warrior

2 of 5

Whatever you think of him is fine and all, but when I think of the Ultimate Warrior and Hulk Hogan, I just remember the good times as a young child.

I can't believe that he has only won it once. I was so little, but he had so much hype around him. I thought for sure he would be champion more than once.

The Intercontinental championship was much more pronounced back then (won twice) but he still deserved to be the heavyweight champion more than once.

No 3: Bruno Sammartino

3 of 5

I understand that when Sammartino wrestled, the title didn't change hands as much as it has in recent history.

He may have held the title longer than anybody which correlates with his two title reigns. Just two times for Bruno is a small sample over some of the other guys that have held it twice.

Bob Backlund, Yokozuna, Sheamus, Sycho Sid and The Big Show have all won it twice. Sammartino deserved to be champion more than twice, but credit the fact that he has held it longer than anybody in the WWE, which may be why he only has two.

He was the most popular wrestler of the 60s and 70s, shout out to Bruno!

No 2: The Undertaker

4 of 5

This guy has been in some of the greatest matches in WWE history. You would think he would have been champion more than four times but that isn't the case.

He is deserving beyond belief. Some of my most memorable and favorite matches involve the Undertaker. Whether it is Hell in a Cell, Buried Alive, Casket match, Inferno Match, etc, he always entertained. He was a main event superstar, look at what he has done at WrestleMania. Lately, every match at WrestleMania has been great.

Having these unbelievable matches at WrestleMania is kind of like performing well at the Super Bowl. He does it better than anyone else.

No 1: Shawn Michaels

5 of 5

He has only won the WWE Championship three times. What a joke that is. He is one of the best entertainers this business has ever seen.

Mankind, Edge, Kurt Angle and Brock Lesnar all have equal or more title reigns than Michaels. I am sorry, but non of these guys compare to Michaels. He deserved better in the WWE in that regard.

Iron Man Match, Hell in a Cell and the Ladder match are all matches that he made famous. I know that he wasn't involved in the first ever ladder match, but there is no doubt he helped make it to what it is today. Throw in the fact that he was apart of one of the most memorable Royal Rumbles of all time and Michaels has done it all.

Shawn Michaels deserved to be champion more than he was.
