Michael Vick: The 7 Greatest Plays of No. 7's Career
There are very few athletes in any sport who are as gifted as Michael Vick.
From his days in high school, to college and then in the NFL, Vick has always been one of the most exciting players on the field.
After a season filled with redemption for Vick, we all are anxiously awaiting to see what he will bring to the table in 2011.
Before we look ahead, let's look back at Vick's seven greatest plays over his career.
7. Vick's Peyton Manning Impersonation
1 of 7Usually when Peyton Manning runs playaction, it's followed by a spot on 40-yard throw.
Vick's version is slightly different, but that doesn't make it any less impressive.
The fake throws off the entire Packers defense, along with the announcing crew for the game.
After just a second of hesitation, Vick turns on the jets and beats Green Bay for the touchdown.
6. The Return to Atlanta
2 of 7This may not be the most memorable play of Vick's career in terms of athleticism, but it's definitely one that he will never forget.
In Vick's first season with the Eagles and his first season since being released from jail, the Eagles faced his former team in Week 13.
With the team up 27-0, Vick took the field under center.
His touchdown throw on 3rd-and-goal was his first and only touchdown pass of the 2009 season.
5. Vick's Head over Heels
3 of 7This is a clip from Vick's college days.
The team faced off against James Madison in Vick's first-ever college game.
He would score two rushing touchdowns in the game, but the most memorable one came late.
Faced with three defenders at the 5-yard line, Vick decides that jumping over them is the best option.
This play set the stage for the rest of Vick's career.
(Note: Yes, Vick was injured on this play. He missed the rest of the game and the following week)
4. The Superman Run
4 of 7Vick was often criticized for his inability to throw the ball when he was a member of the Falcons.
To be fair, he didn't have much help around him. Take the infamous "Superman Run" for example.
Vick has how long to throw the ball? Maybe 0.4 seconds.
With no other options, Vick takes off out of the pocket and makes the Saints defense look silly.
Have a little fun. Count how many Saints defenders end this play face first in the turf.
I counted six.
3. Vick Embarrasses the Eagles
5 of 7It's not the Philadelphia Eagles, but rather the Boston College Eagles.
With Virginia Tech already dominating Boston College, Vick decides to go ahead and make it a little more painful.
Boston College resorts to an eight-man blitz to stop Vick. It doesn't work.
Vick escapes the pressure and takes off for a long touchdown run.
He finished the game with 210 rushing yards, the highest amount in his career.
2. Vick Performs with Game on the Line
6 of 7On December 1st, 2002, Vick broke the NFL record for most rushing yards by a quarterback in a single a game.
He ran for 173 yards against the Minnesota Vikings in an overtime thriller, where the team came away with a 30-24 victory.
The only fitting way for such a game to end was with one of the most impressive runs of Vick's career.
1. Six Touchdown Performance
7 of 7This season, Vick's opening throw against the Washington Redskins on Monday Night Football was an 88-yard completion to DeSean Jackson.
I know this is the seven greatest plays, but Vick's performance in the Week 10 game deserves highlights from more than just one play.
He threw for 333 yards and four touchdowns and rushed for 80 yards and another two touchdowns.
The game broke records and put Vick back in the spotlight after his time away from football.
He became the first player to pass for three touchdowns and rush for two touchdowns in the first half of a game.
The Pro Football Hall of Fame asked for Vick's game jersey, so it could be displayed to recognize the achievement.
