UFC 129 Fight Card: Rogers Centre Will Be Familar Place for Mark Bocek

Mike HodgesApr 25, 2011

Mark Bocek has seen his share of experiences while growing up in Toronto.

One has been attending the Rogers Centre, which will be the site of UFC 129, where he has seen his fair share of concerts and sporting events.

Not only will he be attending the Rogers Centre this weekend, but he will be competing on the main card against Ben Henderson.

It's a place Bocek has familiarized himself with.

"I visualize the locker room, the drive to the arena, the walkout," Bocek recently told MMAjunkie.com.

"Getting into the cage; Bruce Buffer. How the fight plays out in my mind."

It is a fight that could turn the Toronto native from a pretender to a contender, as he has compiled four wins in his last five fights and has been a submission standout in the lightweight division.

His opponent, Henderson, has been a standout in the WEC lightweight division as well. Coming off a loss to Anthony Pettis, Bocek acknowledged that Henderson will be looking for a win in his UFC debut.

An opponent like Henderson though, who is considered to be one of the top fighters in mixed martial arts, doesn't seem to impress Bocek.

"I don't think he outshines me anywhere, to tell you the truth," Bocek said.

"He's tough obviously, good wrestler, good cardio and resilient. But I don't think he's a specialist in any area."

It is based on those attributes, that odds-makers have slightly favored Henderson over Bocek ahead of their bout.

However, if his interpretation of the fight is similar to the one he has envisioned in his mind, Bocek expects to leave the Rogers Centre with a win and leave a huge impression on the fans.

"I think this fight is really going to show who I am."
