Nicholas GossApr 23, 2011

Nathan Horton scored his second goal of the 2011 NHL Playoffs off a rebound from an Andrew Ference shot to give the Bruins a 2-1 victory in double overtime over the Montreal Canadiens Saturday night.

The Game 5 victory earned the Bruins a 3-2 advantage in the series, and they can close out the series in Game 6 Tuesday night in Montreal.

Bruins goalie Tim Thomas stopped 44 shots on the night, making many spectacular saves in a very exciting end-to-end hockey game.

Brad Marchand scored the first goal of the game about five minutes into the third period, but the Canadiens answered with a goal from Jeff Halpern, who played very well all game.

In a game where each shift became shorter and shorter as players accumulated above average ice time, Bruins defensive pair Zdeno Chara and Dennis Seidenberg each logged over 37 minutes of ice time.

Carey Price made 49 saves for the Canadiens.

The Bruins' victory in Game 5 was the first win by a home team in the series.

After falling behind 0-2 by losing the first two games at home, Boston has won three straight to come within a win from the Eastern semifinals.

The Game 5 double overtime victory was the second extra time win for the Bruins in the series. The Bruins beat Montreal in overtime in Game 4 on Thursday night with a goal from Michael Ryder.
