UFC 129 Fight Card: What Jose Aldo Must Do to Beat Mark Hominick
UFC Featherweight Champion Jose "Scarface" Aldo makes his return to the Octagon next weekend in Toronto as he faces the toughest challenge of his young career in former UFC Lightweight star Mark "The Machine" Hominick.
Hominick is one of the toughest strikers in MMA, and it's never pretty when someone stands toe-to-toe with him.
The only problem with that is that nobody has ever survived a fight when they've gone toe-to-toe with Aldo, either.
The dude has some of the most insanely fast and accurate strikes in MMA right now, and on multiple occasions, he's proven to be a very durable fighter who can withstand any type of punishment.
Aldo can spoil Hominick's return to Canada IF he does something similar to what he did against Manny Gamburyan.
In other words, attacking without abandon like Hominick wants is not the answer, but slowly setting up Hominick's unfortunate yet eventual end is.
If he has to leg-kick Hominick to death, so be it.
If he has to jab Hominick for a portion of the fight, that's just the way it is.
Once he has Hominick weakened, though, that's when he needs to come in for the slaughter, and trust me when I tell you that he does make it look like a slaughter.
Should the fight go to the ground, Jose needs to be at his best in every aspect of the fight, whether offensively working for a submission or the mount or defensively fending off Hominick's best efforts from the top.
Hominick says that Aldo has yet to face a striker like himself in the cage; it's all he's been saying since he beat George Roop.
Next weekend, Aldo has the chance to prove that indeed it is Hominick who has never faced a menacing fighter like Aldo before...and if he takes Hominick apart piece by piece, he'll make sure that Hominick never wants to fight a Jose Aldo for as long as he's a mixed martial artist,
