WWE Retrospect: IWC I Was Wrong Christian Can Be a Champ in the WWE

Gone Baby GoneMay 2, 2011

Since I started writing for B/R, I have been writing about how Christian's chances of becoming WHC in the WWE were dwindling.

He had a lot going against him after his ECW title run. The three biggest arguingaruing points I had were his age, irrelevance, and  awful losing streak.

However, many of you reminded me about Kane's situation from a year ago and Kane is older than Christian, so anything is possible. Even with that, I stayed the course and watched the former NWA-TNA champ lose to guys like Drew McIntyre, Alberto Del Rio, and whom ever else the WWE threw his way.

It's safe to say that Edge's retirement was the best thing to happen to "Captain Charisma". Chances are if Edge continued wrestling, Christian would probably have continued jobbing to younger guys.

When he left TNA in 2008, many "peeps" believed he was on the fast-track to becoming WHC in the WWE. However, those hopes were quickly thwarted.  As the initial story-line of him  running in during an Edge/Jeff Hardy match, costing Jeff Hardy the title was killed due to Internet rumors.

Instead of an Edge and Christian reunion, followed by Christian in the main event scene, we witnessed another Matt and Jeff Hardy feud. As Matt was written in to take Christian's place as the spoiler.

Leaving Christian to debut on ECW, it would be almost three months later that he would become ECW champion. Then, once ECW fell apart, Christian appeared to be in limbo, bouncing from RAW to SmackDown!.

However, the fans still held out hope that one day Christian would find his place in the WWE history books.

Boy were they right. I applaud everyone in the IWC that stood by Christain and kept up hope. As I am a fellow "peep", never thought this day would come.

I honestly felt he should not have left TNA. To me, his chances of regaining their WHC was better there than ever becoming champ in the WWE. Last night was a big win not only for Christian, but for every fan who pulled for him since day one.
