College Football Pick'em: The 10 Best Games of Week Seven

Jason EllisOct 10, 2008

Welcome back to another exciting rendition of "College Football Pick’em." Last week was another bounce-back week for me, going 8-2. That brings the overall season record to a very respectable 41-19. I’ve missed more than I care to, but that’s how it goes in college football.

I’ve decided to call off the verbal assault on Arkansas this week. The reasoning behind this is I believe they need a reprieve, and I’m running low on pig jokes.

Without further blah, blah from me, here are your 10 best games of Week Seven.

*Game of the Week*

No. 5 Texas at No. 1 Oklahoma

Winner: Oklahoma, 35-20. The Sooners have dominated all season and continue to do so here. Texas becomes the first major casualty in the war for Big 12 supremacy.

No. 4 LSU at No. 11 Florida

Winner: Florida, 20-17. This is going to be the type of battle that you expect to see in the Southeastern Conference. A young starting quarterback for LSU gives Florida the slightest of advantages here.

No. 16 Oklahoma State at No. 3 Missouri

Winner: Missouri, 45-35. Oklahoma State is a very talented team but has the misfortune to go up against Mizzou’s NCAA 09 offense. Add another line to Chase Daniel’s Heisman resume.

No. 20 Michigan State at No. 24 Northwestern

Winner: Michigan State, 27-21. Javon Ringer and the Spartans rushing attach is too

much for the Wildcats. The geeks keep it close but get worn out in the end.

No. 13 Vanderbilt at Mississippi State

Winner: Vanderbilt, 17-3. Some are calling this a trap game for undefeated Vandy. The Bulldogs can’t get out of their own way long enough to trap anyone. They don’t have the offense to keep up with Vanderbilt. Never thought I would write or say that in my life.

Arizona State at No. 8 Southern California

Winner: SC, 28-10. Carpenter vs. Sanchez or Sullivan vs. Mustain? Really doesn’t matter, because the Trojans are hitting on all cylinders after their bump in the road against Oregon State. They may not lose again this season.

No. 6 Penn State at Wisconsin

Winner: Penn State, 24-20. The Fighting Jo Pa’s get another win en route to contending for the Big Ten title. Wisconsin keeps it close, but loses for the third straight time in heartbreaking fashion.

Notre Dame at No. 23 North Carolina

Winner: North Carolina, 30-10. The Irish are a decent team at home; too bad this game is in Chapel Hill. The Heels keep their great season rolling against the golden domers. Listen for Tate’s name all day long.

Nebraska at No. 7 Texas Tech

Winner: Texas Tech, 30-20. The Huskers play better in this game than they did last week. The Red Raider’s offense proves to be much better than that.

Tennessee at No. 12 Georgia

Winner: Georgia, 24-6. I don’t know why I picked this game. Guess I like to torment myself by picking against my team. The Vols' issues at quarterback keep them out of the end zone in this game. The last time this game was played in Athens, the Vols hung half a hundred plus one on the Bulldogs. This year they will be lucky to hang half of ten on them.

There you have it—your 10 best games of the week. Make sure you take a second to vote in the poll this week (had a disappointing turnout last time around). Just click, it’s easy. Grab your favorite beverage, fire up the grill, and enjoy another great weekend in college football.
