The Showtime Bantamweight Tournament Finals was slated to take place Saturday night at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles, California.

Local undefeated rising star Abner Mares was supposed to take on IBF bantamweight champion Joseph Agbeko in the main event to determine who was indeed the No. 1 bantamweight in the tournament. Unfortunately, Agbeko has now pulled out of the fight due to sciatica, and Mares will also not even be fighting Saturday against a replacement opponent.

So now, the co-headlining fight of Yonnhy Perez vs. Vic Darchinyan is the main event, and that is a solid good fight and a great matchup style-wise with a lot of stock on the line.

Both fighters are coming off losses, and both fighters are trying to prove to the world that they are worthy and deserving of the biggest fights at 118 and possibly at 122.

Darchinyan, who is of Armenian descent, is a former world champion at both super flyweight and flyweight. He was also the unofficial poster boy for Showtime boxing having impressively dominated several fights and winning in brutal knockout fashion. The fact that local Los Angeles cities, such as Glendale, have a huge Armenian population guarantees this fight will definitely be a success crowd wise.

Yonnhy Perez is a former IBF bantamweight champion rebounding from the only loss of his career against Agbeko.  Perez is Colombian and has been known to bring out some of the most enthusiastic energetic crowds to come out to cheer him on.

In the end, this fight (Perez vs. Darchinyan) will be a good entertaining fight showcasing two sluggers who actually do come to fight.

In a perfect world, if it were up to me, and I'm sure many of you agree, there should be a famous hot celebrity woman at this fight representing both fighters' heritage. For Darchinyan, it should be fellow Armenian-American reality star Kim Kardashian, and for Perez, it should be fellow Colombian Modern Family star Sofia Vergara.

But again, that is again only in a perfect world. A fight fan can still dream though right?
