WWE Draft 2011 Predictions: What Will Happen with champion The Miz?

Giulio RomanoApr 24, 2011

Happy Easter Bleachers.

It is time for some Real Talk!

We are in anticipation of the 2011 annual WWE draft tomorrow night on RAW and with that the many possibilities it will create as the roster is sent back and forth between shows.

Last year had its history-making moments. The divas division became unified once more and one man's hard work and dedication led him to capture the richest prize in all of sports-entertainment.

This person has achieved what few have done before him and captured 4 championships in the course of one year. His name is WWE Champion The Miz.

His career has met its ups and downs over the last few years but as it stands now, the champion is on top of the world as he holds one of the longest reigns in recent history with over six months.

Getting media attention all over the Internet at the same time, making several appearances on many television shows at home or abroad, The Miz has captured the hearts of many despite being depicted as a "heel" character.

Having won his first main-event championship match at WrestleMania XXVII against John Cena a few weeks ago certainly helped establish his growing popularity and his ever-impressive resume as one of the top superstars of the moment.

Yet despite all these successes, he is facing an all-important week with two burning questions: can he remain on RAW AND successfully defend his championship at next Sunday's Extreme Rules?

I believe he is to surmount both obstacles.

Not only have we not seen the last of him on Monday nights but he will walk out of that steel cage with the WWE championship belt firmly in his grasp.

There are many things The Miz hasn't accomplished yet on RAW. Defeating Morrison and Cena are not one of them. Been there, done that I say and good riddance. It is time for new challenges and there are many fresh faces he hasn't met in the ring yet.

I am a Miz fan, that we have established but I can objectively say this: give him his deserved credit.

He has done remarkable things in a short span of time all the while been put down by many who thought he'd be a passing gust of wind. It is not time to leave Monday nights just yet...

Don't get me wrong, Friday nights could use a little shake-up and The Miz might be the one to do it but it is too soon. He is red-hot right now and he needs to be on the best show WWE has to offer. His character is still growing and though he has many challengers left to face there, the new arrivals can give him a run for his money just as much.

If I were a betting man I'd say his feud with Cena should end next Sunday. With his looming match against The Rock at WrestleMania XXVIII, John Cena should be focusing on that and allow The Miz to step out of the shadow and establish his own legacy.

John Morrison is another matter. He is a worthy challenger and could really take the champion to his limits. They delivered onto us a great match last January and I for one would love for it to mean even more as they do battle in the main-event of June's Capitol Punishment for example.

One reason Morrison and Miz should also end soon is the fact that in July we have the annual Money In The Bank pay per view event and I am leaving that open for Morrison to finally get his time to shine and capture the coveted briefcase.

That is what I see, that is what I predict but it is also what I wish for the most: The Miz to truly be a long and prosperous champion.

When does it end? Who could elevate him even further? There are only a few that come to mind that could truly propel The Miz to the next level.

It will be Triple H or a returning Chris Jericho. So let it be written, so let it be done!

Both are legends of the squared circle. Both have achieved greatness in their long, illustrious careers and both have a few things left to do before they call it quits.

It seems logical. With perhaps Orton moving to Smackdown and Cena focusing on The Rock and building up someone like Dolph Ziggler for example, we need someone big to challenge the champion.

Either Triple H or Jericho could have a great feud with The Miz. They could easily work all that in by MITB in July and perhaps even take the title off Miz at SummerSlam. It would do wonders for his young career and what an honor than to fight either one of those two greats.

Another angle could be his recently-rumored "face" turn. Big mistake in my book as he is the top malevolent character in WWE right now.

However, people start to cheer for him, really they do and since we rarely have a "heel" take on a "heel" then The Miz could turn fan favorite and begin a chapter with another personal favorite of mine: CM Punk.

A wise choice considering he is a former world champion, tag team champion and intercontinental champion. CM Punk achieved all this also within the span of one year and both display amazing verbal skills which would definitely give us the best nights of our WWE lives no?

In a nut shell, let me say this: The Miz will not be drafted to SMACKDOWN tomorrow and will not lose the WWE title at Extreme Rules on Sunday. He will still be paired with Alex Riley, who I believe fits perfectly into the fold and hopefully will also gain the services of Maryse now that she's pretty much done with Ted DiBiase.

We still need you on Monday nights champ!

And that...is Real Talk!
