FA Cup Magic: Havant & Waterloville Upset Swansea City

Kevin Keegan may have returned to St. James Park, but the real footballing story of the day was at Westleigh Park.

Where? I hear you ask.

Westleigh Park is home to Havant & Waterlooville, a Blue Square South Division side (6th Div), who tonight took on the mighty League One leaders, Swansea City, and won.

The grand prize for the Non-League outfit is a trip to Anfield to face the potent Liverpool.

What a start too!

The Hawks went up 1-0 inside five minutes thanks to a Swansea own goal; Garry Monk is the man at fault.

It was 2-0 25 minutes into the game when Jamie Collins doubled Havants lead and an upset looked firmly on the cards.

Rocky Baptiste made it 3 just before halftime and the game was all but done.

A quick reply by Giullem Bauza cut Swansea’s deficit before half time.

Another by Jason Scotland shortly after the restart must have had the home crowd tensing, as Havant was clinging to just a one-goal lead.

But tonight was to be a magical FA Cup. Tom Jordan restored the two goal lead for Havant on 65 minutes!

By now the players and manager Shaun Gale must surely have been thinking about Liverpool and Anfield!

That may have spurred them as Havant held on to beat Swansea 4-2 to finish off the upset.

Havant & Waterlooville are going to Anfield!

Elsewhere in FA Cup, replay night, the fans were queued around the block at St. James Park looking to get a piece of Kevin Keegan’s home coming.

A big crowd and a big win!
